When out in the market for a new gaming mouse two things always matter the most, grip (shape) and tracking accuracy (sensor). Of course, there are also secondary features many people look for like the number of available buttons, adjustable weight and of course RGB lighting but the most focus is always on the shape and sensor of a gaming mouse. Still even though the market is currently filled with a huge number of gaming mice by numerous manufacturers, old and new, not many actually offer what i refer to as the "wow" factor and this is where DREVO aims at with their latest Falcon Honeycomb Optical Gaming Mouse which I’ve been using for the past 10 days.

Founded by a group of Gamers, Programmers and Designers, DREVO is a young brand which focuses on gaming PC components, peripherals and accessories products. With the purpose of exploring new technology, new workmanship and providing a new experience, we continuously create super cool tech products. "Game With Cool Tech" is our slogan. DREVO is working hard to provide the ultimate gaming experience for each global customer.

Just like many gaming mice before it the Falcon model by DREVO comes with a total of 6 fully programmable buttons and is based around the very popular zero-acceleration PMW3389 optical sensor by Pixart that features a maximum resolution of 16000DPI, 400IPS tracking speed, 50G acceleration and 1000Hz polling rate. For the two primary buttons DREVO chose to go with OMRON switches (20 million clicks) and as for the housing as the product name clearly states they used a honeycomb design which not only helps keep your hands cooler and further reduces the weight of the mouse but also looks great thanks to the 12 internal RGB LEDs (6 effects). The product is completed by an ultra-soft cable which is much easier to handle compared to rubber and/or braided ones. So, let's move forward with today’s review and find out whether or not the performance of the DREVO Falcon Honeycomb Optical Gaming Mouse is on par with its looks.

A large product picture is placed at the front of the box right beneath the company logo.

The technical specifications of the mouse are printed on the left side in 7 languages.

Two product pictures are located at the rear of the box right next to the product features again printed in 7 languages.

Along with the Falcon DREVO only packs the quick start guide and a case sticker.

THE FALCON

The 70g heavy body of the Falcon measures 126mm in length, 63mm in width and 39mm in height.

At the left side we find the usual 2 programmable buttons placed between two perforated areas.

The top and rear of the Falcon are also perforated as is the right side.

A single DPI selection fully-programmable button is located at the top.

The clickable scroll wheel is slightly larger than expected but feels good thanks to its rubber coating.

At the base of the Falcon we find 3 PTFE feet and of course the lens beneath the Pixart PMW3389 optical sensor.

At the end of the 1.8 meter long ultra-soft cable there's a plain (not gold plated) USB plug.

DREVO POWER CONSOLE

power console 1t

The power console is a unified software suite which means you can use it with other peripherals by DREVO.

As you can see the console is very easy to use so on the left side, we have the button assignments and the macro editor whereas on the right side we have 4 drop-down menus the first of which allows you to adjust the DPI for all 8 presets.

The second menu allows you to choose one of the 6 available RGB lighting effects (7 including off) and adjust their brightness levels and direction (single zone).

Lastly from the mouse parameter and polling rate menus you can adjust the mouse sensitivity, scrolling and double-click speed and the polling rate.

You can see just how good the RGB LEDs of the Falcon look when in operation.

CONCLUSION

drevo falcon review b

The Falcon is one of the most unique looking gaming mice to ever pass from my test bench and that alone says a lot. Of course, the entire concept is rather simple since in essence we’re talking just about a perforated enclosure but it works and that’s all that matters (simple yet effective). The PMW3389 optical sensor has proven itself time and again to be one of the best currently in the market with excellent tracking speed and accuracy and so the Falcon doesn’t disappoint in that area. Gliding properties are also very good with the 3 PTFE feet behaving as they should under a 70g heavy mouse. As for the 1.8 meter long ultra-soft cable well this isn’t the first time, we’ve seen a shoelace like one and honestly their durability is still in question (since I haven’t used one for ultra-long periods of time however, I can’t comment on that). The rubber coated clickable scroll wheel is also a tad higher than what i'd like but that's really something that takes but a few minutes to get used to.

DREVO has always priced their products aggressively and the Falcon is no exception since it currently retails for just USD42.99 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 43Euros inside the EU (Amazon.co.uk). Yes, it lacks features like adjustable weight and extra buttons but it’s very fast and accurate, looks great, features primary OMRON buttons and is priced just right all of which mean it deserves no less than our Golden Award.
