PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

Typically, SteelSeries ships their new Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gen 2 wireless gaming headset inside a grey/orange box the front of which is taken by their logo, a large product picture and two awards.

Several awards are plastered all over the left side of the box.

The contents of the bundle are printed on the right side just over the product specifications.

At the rear of the box SteelSeries has placed the 4 main product features in several languages.

The headset is placed in a synthetic piece of cloth and inside a formed piece of plastic for maximum protection.

Contained inside the box next to the Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gen 2 are a synthetic cloth cover/pouch, 1.5-meter-long USB-A to USB-C cable, 1.5-meter-long USB-C extension cable, 1.2 meter long 3.5mm cable, 2.4GHz wireless USB-C dongle and the product guide.

THE ARCTIS NOVA 7 WIRELESS GEN 2

The Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gen 2 is made out of aluminum, plastic/PVD, memory foam and fabric.

This is a small to medium sized model that weighs 325g.

SteelSeries has once again placed their logo on the exterior of both removable earcups.

At the front of the left earcup we find the ClearCast Gen 2 retractable bidirectional noise-cancelling microphone.

On the exterior of the left earcup we also find the volume control roller, microphone mute button and the 3.5mm port.

On the exterior of the right earcup we find the ChatMix control roller, USB-C port, power on/off button, battery LED and the Bluetooth button with its activity LED.

Just like with its predecessor the Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gen 2 has large earpads dressed with airweave fabric which have a very good amount of memory foam padding.

Right and left markings are placed on the interior just over the earcups.

Once again, we see foldable earcups with this model, again, just like its predecessor.

The headband suspension system features 3 clips/mounts on each side of the headset which you can use for the optimal fit.

Both sides of the headband can also extend up to around 50mm (25mm each).

GG SOFTWARE

Once you install the GG software by SteelSeries it will detect connected compatible devices, list then and also check for available firmware updates.

As with past models, you'll need to connect both the headset and the USB-C dongle to perform a firmware update.

From the initial tab you can tweak the equalizer, load one of the 375 available presets, switch between 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connectivity, adjust the microphone volume and noise control and even enable/disable a volume limiter.

Moving to the settings tab from here you can adjust the inactivity turn off timer, set Bluetooth as the default connectivity at start, adjust the microphone mute LED brightness, set the preferred Bluetooth call function, and perform a factory reset.

The sonar audio optimization is an important feature and as with past headsets by SteelSeries there are 4 main tabs inside the Sonar tab the first of which is mixer which controls the volume across all of them.

Inside the game tab you can adjust the equalizer (can make your own or choose one of the 375 available presets), enable/disable spatial audio and the volume boost and smart volume modes.

Under the chat tab we find everything related to chat including equalizer, ClearCast AI noise cancellation, noise reduction, compressor and noise gate.

The mic tab is almost identical to the chat one so again from here you can access the equalizer function, ClearCast AI noise cancellation, noise reduction, compressor, and noise gate.

ARCTIS APP

For people who will not be using the Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gen 2 with their PCs the Arctis App is a must.

The app supports all current Arctis models so you will need to pick yours from the first tab.

Due to European regulations maximum volume is limited so the app asks your location.

From the main tab you can check battery life, choose between 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connectivity, use one of the available EQ presets and enable/disable the volume limiter function.

Currently there are 375 available presets you can use with the app (also with the Sonar feature).

From the microphone tab you can use one of the 9 available EQ presets, set the volume level, adjust the sidetone function and adjust the mute LED brightness.

You can also check for firmware updates, set the inactivity timer and adjust incoming call behavior.

CONCLUSION

    What the Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gen 2 by SteelSeries does best is deliver a clean, confident audio experience without overcomplicating things. Its accurate sound profile, dependable spatial cues, strong wireless performance (next room audio reproduction was flawless), good comfort levels and excellent battery life (over 50 hours during my tests) make it easy to settle into long gaming sessions. The GG software and mobile app elevate the whole package, giving me quick access to EQ shaping, chat mixing, and dual‑wireless control. Ass for what didn't sit well with me, well, bass doesn’t quite bring the weight some players might want, the retractable ClearCast Gen 2 microphone sounds a little "thin" at times and the USB-C transmitter is a bit bulkier than what I've gotten used to (especially if plugged at the rear of the motherboard, it will block nearby ports - however this is where the extension cable comes in).

    As of now the Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gen 2 Gaming Headset by SteelSeries retails for USD170.10 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 155.26Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de) and so it’s priced relatively well. From improved battery life and added mobile‑app controls to reduced wireless latency, the latest SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gen 2 is a valid upgraded compared to its predecessor and for that it gets the Golden Award.
