xtorm infinity 27000 xb203 reviewa

It may have taken slightly longer than expected but sales of portable batteries (power banks) all over the world have reached a point where even 3rd party manufacturers are also doing their best in order to take a piece of the pie. Because of that there are numerous backpacks (of all shapes and sizes), luggage, suitcases, jackets and even car and bike accessories currently available in the market featuring special compartments and/or pockets inside which you can place your power bank and use it to recharge your mobile devices while on the go. Power needs however have increased exponentially over the years and so even though a few years ago even a 6000mAh powerbank would be sufficient for most people today models between 12000mAh and 20000mAh hold the first spot in sales. Xtorm has released numerous impressive models over the years and since they too are aware of the increase in power needs they send us their latest Infinity 27000mAh model (XB203) to test.

Xtorm was founded in 2008 and is part of the Dutch company Telco Accessories B.V., which has its head office in Houten (NL). Xtorm designs, manufactures and markets innovative universal mobile charging solutions. Xtorm Business products complement the range. Xtorm products are contemporary, user friendly and high quality. Xtorm products are currently available in 57 countries worldwide.

As revealed by its name the Infinity XB203 model is among the highest capacity models manufactured to date by Xtorm since it's equipped with 26800mAh worth of A-grade lithium ion rechargeable cells. Even though however the Infinity 27000 packs enough juice to recharge even the highest-end tablets almost 3 full times (most high-end smartphones up to 6-7 times and even laptops up to 2 times) it's actually very compact measuring just 176mm in length, 105mm in width and 25.5mm in height with a weight of just 633g. Just like with previous models by Xtorm the Infinity 27000mAh also features their APM (Auto Power Management) and Auto-Temperature chips which help prevent both its internal lithium-ion cells and those of your mobile devices from overcharging and overheating. In terms of available connectors the Infinity 27000mAh has 3 USB 5V/2.4A ports (up to 3A) and a single USB type-C port all of which can deliver a total maximum output of 60W/6A (you can charge 4 devices simultenously). Unfortunately fast charging technologies like Qualcomm's Quick Charge are not supported by the Infinity 27000mAh but thanks to its 3A port charging times shouldn't be an issue for most modern smartphones.

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

xtorm infinity 27000 xb203 review 1t

Two product pictures are placed at the front of the box along with the main product features and of course the company logo.

Some of the product features are also showcased on the right side of the box right over the red dot award 2017.

A few words about the Infinity 27000mAh are printed at the rear of the box in 7 languages just over the specifications table and the bundle contents.

The front opens up like a book to reveal the Infinity 27000mAh power bank on one side and a few words about its features on the other.

Along with the Infinity 27000mAh you will also receive a wrist wrap (lanyard), micro USB charging cable and the user manual.

THE INFINITY 27.000MAH

As mentioned earlier in this review the rubber and plastic enclosure of the Infinity 27000mAh measures 176mm in length, 105mm in width and 25.5mm in height and weighs just 633g.

To have a better idea not only about the size of the Infinity 27000mAh but also about its size/capacity ratio we placed it right next to the AL390 18000mAh by Xtorm, AL420 9000mAh again by Xtorm, Ultra Compact Powerbank 10000mAh by CHJGD and the PL2 6000mAh and PL3 10400mAh models by Luxa2.

The round button at the top of the enclosure features several LEDs around its ring (360 degrees) which indicate the current battery charge (our sample arrived roughly half charged).

Two compartments are located on both sides of the enclosure inside which Xtorm has placed a micro USB to USB charging cable and a USB type-C to USB charging cable (both are braided).

All of the USB charging ports are located at the front of the enclosure (the USB type-C port can be used both to charge devices and to recharge the power bank itself).

Most of the product specifications are also printed at the rear/belly of the enclosure.

CONCLUSION

xtorm infinity 27000 xb203 reviewb

Just like with most power banks to have made it here to date we tested the Infinity 27000mAh model for slightly over a month with a wide selection of smartphones, tablets, portable speakers, wireless headsets, music players and smart watches to try and pinpoint its available battery capacity as accurately as we possibly can. Needless to say that we never did hit the 26800mAh advertised by Xtorm (same as with the advertised capacities of every other power bank) but according to our tests the Infinity 27000mAh delivers anything between 19500mAh and 20500mAh so it's actually better than what we had hoped. The lack of support for fast charging technologies like Quick Charge is not something we were expecting from such a model (not when the Discover 17000mAh model did feature it - then again it never really did receive the amount of support Qualcomm was expecting from power bank manufacturers) but with three USB 5V/2.4-3A charging ports you should be able to charge most devices a lot faster compared to some lower output models. Adding a USB type-C port was expected so although it's not something unique it will certainly be reason enough for some people to choose the Infinity 27000mAh.

Due to its very high battery capacity, A-grade quality cells and several protections the Infinity 27000mAh power bank by Xtorm doesn’t come cheap and so it currently retails for 117Euros inside the EU (Amazon UK). That being said you should be able to find other power bank models with similar battery capacities for less but since we’ve never had a product by Xtorm to let us down or even fail after many years of use it may be hard to find something equally as good. Overall we have no complaints from the Infinity 27000mAh and since it delivers on everything it should we’re giving it our Golden Award.
