Packaging is flawless with the bewinch R9 Pro and its bundle safely placed inside thick pieces of foam.

 

 

Inside the box you'll find the bewinch R9 Pro, detachable pitcher/glass base, reservoir cover, 2 pitchers, 2 citric acid descaler bags, quick start guide and the user manual.

 

 


 

THE BEWINCH R9 PRO

 

 

 

 

 

 

The bewinch R9 Pro is made of 6 pieces, the main device, filter cover, water reservoir, water reservoir cover, pitcher and glass base and the pitcher itself.

 

 

Obviously, what steals the show is the LED touch interface at the front.

 

 

On the lower end we find the water outlet and the UV sterilization light.

 

 

This is also where you place the plastic base as seen above.

 

 

The dispenser module has a plastic handle which starts the procedure (unless you choose one of the fixed volumes from the LED touch interface it will dispense the entire pitcher).

 

 

At the rear top we find the filter area and a cover with the bewinch name on it.

 

 

You can easily remove all three filters just by rotating then counter clockwise and pulling them out.

 

 

The 3 filters are the M2S micro fiber/activated carbon composite filter, RO-2.0S reverse osmosis membrane filter and the Q2S activated carbon mineralized filter.

 

 

Moving to the water reservoir base we find in/out water ports.

 

 

JIMMY has used a smoked plastic reservoir which still allows you to see the current water level (there's also a floater sensor inside).

 

 

Taking a look at the rear, we see two air intake vents just under the reservoir and speaker holes right behind the filter area.

Both water pitchers are made of high-quality Tritan material which is BPA free, safe and durable.

TESTING METHODOLOGY

 

 

 

 

 

 

    To evaluate water‑quality, I'll be using the HM Digital AP‑1 to measure Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) before and after filtration. TDS represents the total amount of dissolved matter in water, mainly ions like calcium, magnesium, and sodium, and is expressed in parts per million (ppm). Lower readings generally indicate fewer dissolved solids and cleaner output (water is left to settle briefly prior to immersing the AP‑1 probe). While this method provides a practical, real‑world snapshot of water purity, it cannot replace a full chemical analysis (something which obviously I can't do), which is required to identify specific contaminants or verify compliance with formal water‑quality standards.


    To measure operational behavior, I used three instruments. Noise levels are recorded with the ExTech HD600 decibel meter placed roughly one meter from the purifier, at the same height, while the unit was actively filtering and as for power consumption, it's tracked using the AVM FRITZ! Smart Energy 210, with separate measurements for cold‑water operation and hot‑water heating to capture realistic load conditions (when applicable). Finally, filtration speed was timed with a digital stopwatch, starting the moment filtration began and stopping when exactly one liter of purified water was collected. Each test will be repeated a total of 5 times to ensure consistency.

    Before I move to my results I need to point out that the more you filter the water in the reservoir the “dirtier” water gets back in it (make sure you dispose remaining water in the end) and so even though initial PPM for fresh water was 172 according to the internal TDS sensor this increased as the water level decreased (last pass detected 297PPM).

    So, time to measure PPM with the AP-1 (153PPM for fresh water, 8PPM for water inside the pitcher). Do keep in mind that water is slightly remineralizer which is why you don't see 3PPM as the internal sensor (for people looking to get higher levels of remineralization - and perhaps improved taste - JIMMY will be releasing a new filter that boosts PPM to around 20).

    Using the bewinch R9 Pro day‑to‑day, the positives show up fast, RO water quality is excellent, the filters pop out without any fuss, and the ability to dispense both cold (semi-cold if we’re being completely accurate) and near‑boiling water makes it feel more like a multi‑purpose appliance than a purifier. Its size also works in its favor, it’s compact enough to shift around the counter or even relocate entirely. But living with it also reveals a few quirks. The 5.5L tank isn’t truly 5.5L in practice since once reject water loops back, you’re effectively working with about 3.5L before needing a refill (a direct water inlet for people who'd like to have it in a fixed location would make a fine addition). The dispenser height is also limiting, so filling a tall bottle or thermos is out of the question (I prefer filling up large bottles so I can place them in the fridge so the addition of a retractable tube which one may use for that purpose would make sense – yes, I know I’m asking for a lot but one can dream). Performance‑wise, the bewinch R9 Pro is quick (about 3.5 minutes to purify a liter of water) but not inaudible, sitting at just over 43dBA from a meter away means it’s quite noticeable in a quiet room. And while cold mode sips power at around 80W, hot mode at 98°C is a heavy hitter at roughly 2150W. In short, the bewinch R9 Pro nails water quality and convenience, but you’ll notice its noise, its power draw when heating (although understandable so not really a con), and its limited reservoir capacity.


    As I type this review the bewinch R9 Pro countertop reverse osmosis water purifier by JIMMY retails for USD499 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 499Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de 20% discount using code DB3N2IXO, Jimmy.eu 70Euros discount using code NIKK70) and although for many this will no doubt seem expensive, it’s actually among the lowest cost models that share the same set of features. Still there are far too many health concerns surrounding tap water all over the world and at least for me reverse osmosis water purifiers should take priority. At the end of the day the bewinch R9 Pro delivers as advertised, yes, it’s not quite perfect but you’re getting clean water (semi-cold or hot) from a device you can easily use and place virtually anywhere and so the Golden award is in order.
