uperfect y 1080p portable monitor with stand review a

I never recall being very fond of portable touch screen monitors so if anyone told me years ago that one day i would, well i just wouldn't pay attention to be honest. After having used and/or reviewed a handful however that's exactly what has happened, to a point at least. Yes, i probably will never even think about playing games, watching movies or even editing pictures on a portable touch screen monitor (not unless that monitor is at least 20+ inches in size) but for typing, web surfing and generally everything one may need to do while away from home and/or the office they can be extremely convenient, especially when used with a smartphone and/or a tablet. UPERFECT is a rather new player in the market but their portable touch monitors have become very popular all over the world and today with me i have their latest Full HD (1080p) model, the UPERFECT Y Portable Touch Screen Monitor With Stand.

UPERFECT was founded in 2017 as a brand based on decades of experience and research along with a sole vision to enlighten people in enhancing their display to 4K and improve their lives through our portable display technology. At UPERFECTMONITOR we understand and are fully committed to solving real-time challenges experienced by people worldwide by the provision of high-quality, individualized modern technological monitors with professionalism, dignity, and respect. We strive to understand the challenges that people are facing today and use our strong technology acumen to find exclusive and unprecedented solutions for them.

The UPERFECT Y is a 15.6-inch portable monitor which as its name clearly states combines touch screen functionality (5-point capacitive) with a rear stand that features both an 0-110 degree adjustable angle (landscape and portrait modes are supported) and a 90 degree CCW (counter clockwise) rotation (for portrait mode). For this particular model UPERFECT has used an 8-bit Full HD (1920x1080p) IPS HDR (2048 mode) panel that features a refresh rate of 60Hz, input lag of just 5ms (GTG), 2000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness and 178 degrees viewing angles. Other features include two stereo speakers located on the left and right of the stand (2W each), two USB type-C ports (one PD), USB 3.0 port, HDMI port, 3.5mm headphone jack, rear ambient light, low power mode, volume/brightness roller and an on/off/menu back button.

SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

uperfect y 1080p portable monitor with stand review 1tUPERFECT uses a white box to ship the screen the front of which has a product picture while at the rear we see a few certifications and the made in China.

The screen is wrapped inside a synthetic cover and placed between two thin pieces of foam.

Along with the UPERFECT Y screen inside the box you'll also find a USB wall adapter, 2 USB-C cables, USB-A to USB-C cable, HDMI cable and the user manual.

THE UPERFECT Y

The UPERFECT Y is a 15.6 inch portable touch screen that measures roughly 376mm in length, 227mm in width and 15mm in thickness.

Compared to the 4k 15.6 inch touch screen monitor by Desklab which i reviewed a few weeks back the UPERFECT Y is just a tad smaller but as expected a bit thicker due to its rear stand.

Since UPERFECT fitted the two 2W speakers into the stand it's not exactly small.

Here we also see the 2 USB Type-C ports (remember, your device must be connected via one of these for touch functionality), USB 3.0 port, HDMI in, 3.5mm headphone jack, menus roller and the on/off/menu back button.

We also see the speaker holes and the button which is used to extend the stand.

As mentioned earlier the stand can be used both with the screen in landscape and portrait positions (as seen above).

UPERFECT has also equipped the Y model with ambient lighting which is not bad, limited a bit sure, but not bad.

UPERFECT Y MENUS

By pushing the roller, you gain access to the menu and from here you can adjust the brightness, contrast and color temperatures, enable HDR (2048 mode), set the aspect ratio, enable/disable low-power mode, enable/disable the ambient lighting feature, change the menu language, switch between inputs, adjust the menu position and timeout, increase/decrease audio volume, reset the device to its factory settings and check the information page.

VIEWING ANGLES / PICTURE QUALITY

Generally speaking, IPS panels have great viewing angles so this is what you get from the UPERFECT Y as well (still, brightness levels could be better).

IPS panels also deliver very good color accuracy, yes this may not be the best Full HD IPS panel out there but as you can see it does a very good job.

TEST RESULTS

DATACOLOR SPYDERX ELITE MEASUREMENTS

gamut

By using the SpyderX Elite Colorimeter by Datacolor i measure both the color gamut (SRGB and Adobe) and the brightness levels of the monitor at hand.

Here you can see results for Color and Luminance Screen Uniformity (instead of just listing results at 100% brightness I’m listing all of them - 50/67/83/100%).

Datacolor rates monitors based on their overall results so it was decided to include this chart as well.

POWER CONSUMPTION

Power consumption may not be what most people look for when out to get a brand new monitor but at the end of the day it's still an important factor so i do hope this is of interest to some of you.

CONCLUSION

uperfect y 1080p portable monitor with stand review b

The UPERFECT Y model may be among the lowest cost models by UPERFECT but it’s actually a very good portable touch monitor. As a matter of fact, even though my initial plan was to use it for 3-4 days I ended up using it for almost 2 full weeks due to how convenient it was. Yes, the rather low brightness levels don’t help at times but image quality is very good overall as is color reproduction, even though according to Datacolor it doesn’t deliver 100% of the sRGB range (besides let’s face it, affordable portable touch monitors can’t deliver on everything). The 2W (4W total) stereo speakers also did quite well during my tests and even better really compared to the ones used in some full sized screens, something which I clearly didn’t expect. The rear roller is somewhat difficult to use due to its position but that’s not a game breaker.

At USD219.99 currently (directly from UPERFECT) the UPERFECT Y Portable Touch Screen Monitor With Stand represents great value for people on a budget. True, it’s far from the best portable touch monitor in the market today and its Full HD (1080p) resolution may not seem impressive enough to some people (at least not on paper) but thanks to its size, image quality, stereo speakers and convenient stand the UPERFECT Y delivers on just about anything, add the rather tempting price and well it’s clear why it gets the Golden Award.
