eizo flexscan ev3285 review b

My very first encounter with EIZO was back in 1999 with their award winning (and quite expensive) T965 CRT model. Of course, back then 21 inches were considered a lot for a PC screen so to many the T965 was too much. Unfortunately, that was the extend of my experience with EIZO so I really wanted to see what they’ve been up to lately and that’s why I requested to test the FlexScan EV3285 which as you can see from the rest of the review didn’t fail to impress. Yes, this isn’t a gaming monitor so if you’ve been using something with a higher refresh rate it will be hard to get back to 60Hz but if you’re not then you’ll really enjoy playing on the EV3285. Where the EV3285 really shines however is image quality and color reproduction and here it doesn’t have much competition. Yes, it may not deliver the highest Adobe RGB color space numbers but pictures don’t lie and it’s clear that EIZO delivers the same top-notch IQ as they’ve done in the past. And then we have all the other features like the light sensor, versatile stand, USB-C input / charging and eco modes (not to mention the paper mode) all of which can produce the optimal result for professionals, primarily office workers.

At the time of this review the FlexScan EV3285 4k UHD Monitor retails for USD1498 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 1190.70Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de) a price tag which can be easily explained just by the name EIZO. That being said there are many people who will say that this is an overpriced screen and that just might be true to an extent. However, considering all the things you’re getting in return (size, image quality, color reproduction, resolution, features, warranty) not to mention all the small details there are certainly those who will go the extra mile without paying much attention to price. Personally, I think EIZO still has what put them at the top back in the late 90’s and as for the EV3285 well it’s a top notch monitor aimed towards demanding office workers and since it delivers it certainly deserves the Golden Award.
