CONCLUSION

hyperx cloud alpha reviewb

The success of both the original CLOUD and its 7.1 virtual surround version the CLOUD II is well documented not only from all the award winning reviews online (our own included) but also from their sales numbers. The Revolver S also turned out to be a very good gaming headset but due to its suspension system, type of mic used and 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound it’s an entirely different product altogether compared to the CLOUD/II models. A for the CLOUD Alpha it didn’t disappoint since thanks to its impressively crisp and accurate mids and highs it has nothing to be jealous from the Revolver S and of course the CLOUD/II models. Bass levels are actually also very good as expected from its 50mm dual-chamber drivers (although a bit more wouldn’t hurt). The detachable microphone was never an issue with any of the CLOUD models and it’s not an issue now either since players on the other end thought we were sitting in the same LAN event. Now we can’t say with certainty that this is a better mic than the ones used in previous CLOUD models (its specifications sheet certainly points to that) but since it works very well I don’t really think that matters. As for comfort nothing new here since the CLOUD Alpha is pretty much identical to the original CLOUD/II headsets and so it scores high on that are as well (still not as comfortable as the Revolver S).

Just like with the HyperX CLOUD/II Pro Gaming Headsets the CLOUD Alpha is reasonably priced and so currently it can be found for USD99.99 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 102Euros inside the EU (Amazon.co.uk). Overall it may lag behind the CLOUD Revolver S just a bit in terms of features (7.1 Dolby Surround Sound) and comfort but if you’re looking for a high quality stereo headset with very good audio clarity and accuracy the CLOUD Alpha has you covered and that’s also why it deserves our Golden Award.
