deepcool lt720 aio review a

It seems that no matter how many AIO liquid coolers i manage to get my hands on there are always more available, some old, some new, which I’ve yet to test/review. Well, just like with most things in the industry this is of course both a good and a bad thing for consumers since on one hand this means you have an endless selection to choose from while on the other the more you can choose from the harder it is to make that choice. The Infinity Series LT Liquid CPU Cooler line by DeepCool was released almost 15 months ago and even though it did take quite a while for me to get one in the lab, the 360mm variant is finally here.

Established in 1996, DeepCool is a global brand in designing and manufacturing high-performance computer components for enthusiasts worldwide that includes CPU coolers, PC cases, Power Supplies, Peripherals, and more. With a strong background in independent research and development, DeepCool continues to provide high-quality products, premium customer service, and incredible value to our dedicated customers.

The LT Liquid CPU Cooler line by DeepCool currently includes 240/360mm models both of which are based on DeepCool’ s 4th generation pump featuring a three-phase drive motor which can reach speeds of up to 3100RPM. As with all AIO's out there the LT720 consists by 4 parts, an 402mm long, 120mm wide and 27mm thick aluminum radiator, two 410mm long nylon braided rubber tubes, pump complete with top infinity mirror ARGB LEDs and an all-copper base (cold-plate) and three fluid dynamic bearing 120mm fans (2250RPM/85.85CFM/32.9dBA/3.27mmH2O). As expected, the top infinity ARGB LEDs of the pump are fully compatible with 3-pin ARGB technologies such as ASUS Aura Sync, ASRock Polychrome Sync, Razer Chroma ARGB, Gigabyte RGB Fusion and MSI Mystic Light (unfortunately DeepCool doesn't pack a standalone controller for consumers who may not have such ARGB connectivity). Finally, in regards to warranty DeepCool backs their LT Liquid CPU Cooler series with a very generous 5-year limited one.

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

deepcool lt720 aio review 1t

DeepCool uses a plain cardboard box to ship the LT720 the front of which is taken by a removable paper with a product picture on it.

Both the features and specifications of the LT720 are printed at the rear of the box.

As expected, the bundle is placed inside a formed piece of cardboard.

Along with the main body of the LT720 inside the box you'll find three 120mm fans (FK120 model), 3 extension cables, y-splitter cable, backplate, bag with fan screws, information paper and all the necessary bits and pieces to install the LT720 on Intel LGA 1150/1151/1155/1156/1200/1700/2011/2011-3/2066 and AMD AM4/AM5/sTRX4/sTR4 motherboards.

THE LT720

deepcool lt720 aio review 5t

As with most recent AIO's what really stands out from the LT720 is its thick pump.

DeepCool has once again used an 27mm thick radiator so nothing new here.

The anti-leak technology DeepCool is currently using promised to reduce such mishaps.

In terms of FPI (fins per inch) count the aluminum radiator used with the LT720 has 20.

The two 410mm long tubes come ready with a holder that has the DeepCool logo on it.

Almost 40% of the pump’s top features a clear plastic cover underneath DeepCool has placed infinity mirror ARGB LEDs.

As expected, the tubings rotate up to 90 degrees from the waterblock/pump to simplify installation.

Small detail for sure but the DeepCool logo on the right side of the radiator is a nice touch.

By default, the somewhat small coldplate has a thin layer of thermal conductive material on it.

Removing it reveals a very even and mark-free surface.

The FK120 fans come ready with rubber pads on all 4 corners.

With the fans mounted onto the aluminum radiator thickness increases to 54mm.

TESTING METHODOLOGY

Testing complete water cooling kits or individual radiators is no different than testing CPU Coolers and since i want all of you to be able to compare similar products, i created new and separate charts (you can still cross-compare results however since we are using the same test rig). So once again single (120/140mm) watercooling solutions are tested with the radiator mounted at the rear of the test rig while dual/triple/quad (240/260/280/360/420/480/560mm) solutions with the radiator mounted at the top. For the dBA tests complete water cooling kits or radiators with bundled fans are measured both while on idle mode or with the fan controller in the minimum setting and while on extreme load or with the fan controller all the way to the highest possible setting (PWM fans do that on their own without our intervention). Every single test takes place in a temperature controlled room of 23 degrees Celsius Ambient Temp with the help of two AC units placed diagonally inside that said room. Finally, much like when testing CPU Coolers, it's very important to point out that just because a water cooling kit outperforms another when tested with my test rig (when i test complete water cooling kits) that does not necessarily mean that the same performance differences will apply 100% for other CPU models and in other situations (such as different ambient temps and system configurations).

To successfully record the load temperatures, I’ll be using the latest OCCT application for around 6-10 minutes to push the processor to its limits and after that is done and the temperatures are recorded, I’ll wait for about 10-20 minutes for the CPU to cool down and record idle temperatures. This is done to allow time for the thermal conductive material to achieve the optimal performance level. Same procedure is then repeated with the Passmark BurnIn Test as a failsafe just in case the OCCT results are wrong. This procedure takes a lot more time than the usual peltier/thermometer tests but this way not only can i deliver real world results to all of you based on real CPUs but i can also triple check the results using a variety of programs. Last but not least the temperatures were recorded using both the latest versions of AIDA64 and RealTemp while the noise level tests (when fans exist in the bundle) are performed using a high precision ExTech HD600 Decibel Meter placed about 10-15cm above the radiator. Still although the same testing procedure applies to all units do take into consideration that unlike the official numbers which are measured in special noise isolated labs with just the fans here, we also have both the rest of the cooler and the rest of the system (although all system fans are turned off when recording noise levels).

CONCLUSION

deepcool lt720 aio review b

Even though it took me just over a year to receive a sample of the LT720 AIO by DeepCool I recall colleagues of mine talking about just how great it was in regards to cooling efficiency. That however was back then, today the LT720 is just another good performance AIO which doesn’t really stand out in that regard. Yes, cooling efficiency is certainly good and in terms of noise levels the LT720 does better compared to many other 360mm AIO models in the charts but the same can be said about quite a few others (and some do offer better performance as well). Now the infinity mirror ARGB LEDs on top of the pump do look nice but as expected the lack of ARGB fans might disappoint some potential buyers. On the other hand, being widely available in both black and white colors is certainly one of the good things the LT720 has going for it.

What about cost however? Well, at the time of this review the Infinity Series LT720 AIO by DeepCool retails for USD124.04 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 120.86Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de) thus being quite affordable. Good cooling efficiency and looks at an affordable price and with a 5-year limited warranty are just some of the reasons the LT720 gets the Golden Award.
