teze k5 portable power station review a

Even though i never was a camping guy (nor did i ever go on fishing trips) i learned to appreciate just how useful/convenient power banks can be, both when away and when at home and/or the office. Yes, both and home and/or the office using UPS devices to power various electrical and electronic devices is far more convenient and, in many cases, the only way since power banks can't really meet the electrical requirements of many such devices and well this is something the industry just had to overcome. The answer came less than a decade ago in the form of portable power stations which rivalled the capacity of UPS devices but could be used on the go to power both DC and AC devices. Teze Power may not be the very first name to come in mind when talking about portable power stations (nor the 2nd or the 3rd for that matter) but I’ve spent over a month with their K5 model and well this is what today's review is all about.

The K5 by Teze Power is a large capacity (1050Wh/328300mAh - LiFePO4 Cells) portable power station (available in black and grey, grey and orange and green colors) which can deliver up to 1200W of power to a wide range of devices, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, cameras, drones, portable refrigerators, and even small appliances like blenders and coffee makers. In terms of features the Teze K5 sports upgraded MPPT technology (Maximum Power Point Tracking - DC to DC converter technology) which provides higher conversion and charging efficiency, can be charged using various methods (either via solar panels, AC outlets and car chargers), LED Light for emergency illumination (500 LM), four 60mm cooling fans and several protections including temperature, overvoltage, short circuit, overpower, overcharge and overcurrent (100A). As for available connectivity the Teze K5 comes ready with a wireless charging pad, single 12V DC port, two Sine Wave AC ports, three USB Type-C ports (2x5V 2.4A/1xPD 65W fast charging port) and three USB-A ports (2x5V 2.4A/1xQC3.0 18W). So, time to see exactly what you can expect from the K5 model by Teze Power.

teze k5 portable power station review 1t

Teze Power uses a simple cardboard box to ship the Teze K5 model the front of which has a product drawing and showcases the available ports, Sine Wave feature and some of the units’ electrical specifications.

On the left side we find numerous drawings showcasing with what devices you can use the K5 and as for the right side here Teze Power has printed all available protections.

Another product drawing is available at the rear of the box and is again surrounded by the available ports and some of the features.

Packaging is very good with the Teze K5 wrapped inside a plastic bag and placed between two thick foam spacers.

Along with the Teze K5 inside the box you'll also find a cigar socket power cable, wall socket power cable and the user manual.

THE TEZE K5

The K5 weighs 14Kg and measures 36.6cm in length, 26.6cm in height and 23.5cm in depth/width.

In terms K5 is a medium sized portable power station and to showcase this i placed it right next to a small portable power station, the Vevor PPS300 (300W).

At the front of the K5 we find a small color display, on/off power button, output buttons (AC/DC/USB/Wireless), 3 USB-A ports, 3 USB-C ports and the cigar power port.

The wireless charging location is obviously placed at the top of the K5.

On the left side we find two cooling fans, long LED light with its mode button, two charging ports and a reset button.

Moving to the right side we find two more cooling fans and the two Sine Wave AC ports.

A sticker with the units’ electrical specifications is placed at the rear.

In order to cover a wide range of electrical and electronic devices i decided that I’ll be using 3 different ones to test portable power stations, the VEVOR SH-C22 bluetooth car refrigerator (DC, around 45W consumption - not continuous), Delonghi Aria Dry Light dehumidifier (AC, around 662W consumption) and a generic air cleaner (AC, around 55W consumption). Of course, my ExTech HD600 dBA meter will also be used at around 10cm away from each portable power station to record the maximum noise coming from the built-in fan/s.

CONCLUSION

teze k5 portable power station review b

Over the past 3-4 years I’ve used two portable power stations, both of which are not of the same capacity and output as the Teze K5 (300W/800W) so from that going to an 1200W model, well, it’s a different experience. Now I’m not about to lie, i didn’t really have high expectations from the Teze K5 (primarily because Teze Power was unknown to me until some of you reached out about them) but in all honesty i had 0 issues with it during the 2 months i used it for. Aside its output and capacity which are clearly its two strongest selling points (and which should easily cover even demanding users) one other thing that really stood out was the how fast the Teze K5 gets fully charged. For example, the Vevor model needs roughly 5 hours whereas the Teze K5 needs less than two (Teze Power says 1.5 hours but if i recall properly it’s slightly more than that) something which probably has to do both due to its LiFePO4 cells and MPPT technology. Of course, the multiple charging ports are also welcome and so aside being able to use the Teze K5 with 3 large devices (AC/DC) you can also use it with 7 smaller overs (USB-C/USB-A/Wireless). What i didn’t like much was that the 4 cooling fans spin almost all the time when the Teze K5 gets charged and that’s not something i experienced with the other two portable power stations I’ve used to date. If, however this is normal for such high output and capacity portable power stations (more of them on the way so I should know soon) well, then there’s really nothing bad i can say about the Teze K5.

As I type these lines the K5 by Teze Power retails for just USD643.99/588.75Euros directly from their online store, a price tag which should be quite tempting for people out in the market for one such portable power station. Teze Power unfortunately doesn’t make other portable power station models currently so 1200W/1050Wh might be a bit much for some people but that’s not relevant to the K5 model. Long story short if you are in the market for a portable power station with plenty of output, great battery life and a plethora of charging ports then the K5 by Teze Power has you covered.
