Water filtration systems have become increasingly popular as consumers pay closer attention to the quality, taste, and safety of their drinking water. Among the various purification technologies available today, Reverse Osmosis (RO) remains one of the most effective solutions, capable of removing a wide range of contaminants, dissolved solids, heavy metals, and unwanted impurities through a semi-permeable membrane. Traditional RO systems are usually installed beneath the kitchen sink and connected directly to the home's plumbing, but advances in technology have led to a new generation of countertop units that combine sophisticated filtration with convenience and flexibility. Modern systems often integrate multiple filtration stages, intelligent monitoring functions, and rapid heating capabilities, allowing users to enjoy purified water at precisely controlled temperatures for everything from everyday hydration to coffee, tea, and infant formula preparation. Designed to bring these features together in a compact all-in-one appliance, the Waterdrop Filter WD-M6HG Instant Hot Countertop RO System aims to deliver clean water and instant hot water without the complexity of permanent installation.

Waterdrop Filter is a pioneering brand in water purification, dedicated to providing effective solutions for homes, offices, skincare, gardening, car washing, and outdoor activities. Known for premium tankless Reverse Osmosis systems, Waterdrop is consistently favored by consumers for reliable, efficient, and innovative water purification.

The Waterdrop Filter WD-M6HG is an installation-free countertop reverse osmosis system designed to combine advanced water purification, mineral enrichment, and instant hot water dispensing in a single appliance. At its core is an 8-stage filtration process featuring a 0.0001μm RO membrane alongside UV sterilization, enabling the system to reduce contaminants such as fluoride, chlorine, lead, chromium, heavy metals, VOCs, PFAS compounds (PFOA/PFOS), microplastics, dissolved solids (TDS), and unwanted taste and odor from drinking water. Unlike conventional RO systems that remove virtually everything from the water, the WD-M6HG incorporates a mineralization stage that reintroduces beneficial minerals including potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, strontium, zinc, and silicic acid, producing water with a reported pH of 7.5+. Rated at 75 GPD (gallons per day - 284 liters), the system features a 3:1 pure-to-drain ratio, significantly reducing wastewater compared to many traditional RO designs. A dual-tank arrangement consists of a 4-liter feed water reservoir and a 1.5-liter wastewater tank, while a detachable 1.2-liter glass pitcher automatically refills when water levels drop. The integrated instant-heating system can deliver water at multiple preset temperatures, including room temperature, 45°C, 75°C, 85°C, and 95°C, with adjustable dispensing volumes ranging from 150ml to 999ml (1-liter effectively), making it suitable for everything from everyday hydration to coffee, tea, and cooking. Additional conveniences include a touch control screen, favorite mode for saving preferred settings, NSF/ANSI 58 and 372 certifications, compact dimensions of 40.39x23.62x36.83cm, and a countertop-friendly plug-and-play design that requires no plumbing or permanent installation.

SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

The WD-M6HG is shipped inside a white and blue box the front of which has a large product picture, the company logo and the main product features.

Waterdrop Filter has placed the product country version with the specifications on the left side.

At the rear we find the same picture as at the front, this time however in French.

Packaging is flawless with the device and its bundle placed between several thick pieces of foam.

Inside the box you'll find the WD-M6HG RO system, RO filter, pitcher with cover, magnetic round dispensing area base, top plastic cover, quick start guide, warranty information paper, certification paper and the user manual.

THE WD-M6HG

The almost 10Kg heavy WD-M6HG measures 36.83cm in height, 23.62cm in width and 40.39cm in depth (when fully assembled).

Waterdrop Filter has placed a compact touch control screen at the front of the device.

The pitcher mount/port is elevated to the right side of the WD-M6HG.

A single RO filter is located on top as seen above.

The WD-M6HG may use a single filter but it's considerably larger compared to for example the ones used with the BEWINCH R9 Pro.

Unlike the R9 Pro the WD-M6HG doesn't have a start/stop lever (you do that from the display).

On the left side of the device, we basically find a quick start guide.

The water tank is separated in two parts, 4-liter clean and 1.5-liter waste.

Typically, under the water tank we find in/out water ports.

This time over we find a 1.2-liter round water pitcher (around 1070ml effective according to my measurements).

With measurements of 40.39x23.62x36.83cm the WD-M6HG is ideal for deep counters.

In overall size the WD-M6HG is almost identical to the BEWINCH R9 Pro, sole difference is orientation (one is meant for long counters while the other for deep ones).

DISPLAY

The display has 7 fixed selections and two adjustable ones (from left to right at the bottom we have favorite preset, start, lock touch buttons).

From the right you can choose the coffee (93°C) and tea (85°C) presets.

From the left side you can control temperature (room temperature-95°C) and dispensed water amount (250-999ml).

TESTING METHODOLOGY

To evaluate water‑quality, I'll be using the HM Digital AP‑1 to measure Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) before and after filtration. TDS represents the total amount of dissolved matter in water, mainly ions like calcium, magnesium, and sodium, and is expressed in parts per million (ppm). Lower readings generally indicate fewer dissolved solids and cleaner output (water is left to settle briefly prior to immersing the AP‑1 probe). While this method provides a practical, real‑world snapshot of water purity, it cannot replace a full chemical analysis (something which obviously I can't do), which is required to identify specific contaminants or verify compliance with formal water‑quality standards.

To measure operational behavior, I used three instruments. Noise levels are recorded with the ExTech HD600 decibel meter placed roughly one meter from the purifier, at the same height, while the unit is actively filtering and as for power consumption, it's tracked using the AVM FRITZ! Smart Energy 210, with separate measurements for cold‑water operation and hot‑water heating to capture realistic load conditions (when applicable). Filtration speed was timed with a digital stopwatch, starting the moment filtration began and stopping when exactly one liter of purified water was collected. Each test will be repeated a total of 5 times to ensure consistency.

Finally, I also added a chart showing just how much filtered water you can expect per tank/reservoir fill.

Unlike the BEWINCH R9 Pro by JIMMY the WD-M6HG doesn’t have a TDS indicator so let’s use the AP-1 to measure regular water (water where I live sits between 145 and 155PPM constantly, 152PPM in this instance).

As for the clean water inside the pitcher my tests returned 4PPM, a number lower than expected (not a bad thing really).

(under power consumption do keep in mind that the BEWINCH R9 Pro by JIMMY boils water up to 98°C, 3°C over the WD-M6HG).

CONCLUSION

Overall, the Waterdrop WD-M6HG leaves a very positive impression thanks to its combination of excellent filtration performance, thoughtful feature set, and compact installation-free design. During testing, the WD-M6HG also proved to be marginally faster and slightly quieter than the JIMMY BEWINCH R9 Pro. The 8-stage filtration system, UV sterilization, instant hot water functionality, adjustable temperature and volume settings, and the inclusion of a detachable glass pitcher all contribute to a premium user experience. Water quality was equally impressive, with the system consistently reducing source water TDS from 140-160ppm down to just 4ppm, demonstrating excellent contaminant removal efficiency. One observation worth mentioning concerns the system's remineralization stage. Although Waterdrop Filter advertises the addition of beneficial minerals following the reverse osmosis process, my measurements consistently showed a final TDS reading of approximately 4ppm. While this confirms exceptional purification performance, it also suggests that the remineralization process is intentionally conservative, prioritizing highly purified water with only modest mineral supplementation compared to some competing countertop RO systems that typically produce noticeably higher post-filtration TDS readings. As for downsides, well, the detachable pitcher never felt particularly secure when seated on the unit, lacking the reassuring stability expected from a premium product. Available beverage presets are also somewhat limited, offering only dedicated tea and coffee modes, while the absence of a chilled water option means users seeking both hot and cold purified water will need to look elsewhere. Finally, despite its respectable capacity, the system's clean water output of around 2.2 liters per tank fill falls noticeably behind the 3.7 liters achieved by the JIMMY BEWINCH R9 Pro, resulting in more frequent refilling for larger households.

Consumers can currently grab their very own WD-M6HG Instant Hot Countertop RO System by Waterdrop Filter for just $329 inside the USA (Waterdropfilter.com – $20 off when you subscribe to their newsletter) and for 359Euros inside the EU (Waterdropfilter.eu – 20Euro off when you subscribe to their newsletter), a price tag which is very balanced for what you’re getting. At the end of the day the WD-M6HG RO system by Waterdrop Filter clearly delivers as advertised and that’s why it gets the Golden Award.
