eufy p2 pro review a

It might be the most important thing in our lives but unfortunately most of us take our health for granted and yes that includes myself. As a matter of fact, people like myself (some professionals and serious gamers included) who spend countless hours in front of a PC screen have increased health risks which unfortunately can't be offset just by working out once in a while (need to step up my game in that regard). The thing however is how you can become aware of imminent health issues and that's not really something you can do while at home, or at least that's what i also thought up until the moment i started using The P2 Pro Smart Scale by eufy roughly a month ago.

eufy’s motto of “Smart Home Simplified” is what drives us to build easy-to-use smart home devices and appliances that are designed to enhance your life. From laser-guided robotic vacuum cleaners to wireless security systems, every eufy product is developed using cutting-edge technologies and is designed for your convenience. eufy is developing a new generation of connected devices and appliances that work seamlessly together to simplify the complete smart home experience. eufy is part of Anker Innovations, one of the leading and most trusted consumer electronics brands in America.

The eufy P2 Pro is not your average smart scale, not only because it looks nothing like most similar models (available in black and white colors) but also since thanks to its BIA (bioelectrical impedance analysis) technology it can deliver a thorough report of the state of your body via not one but 16 measurements from weight, heart rate, bone mass and body fat up to BMI (body mass index), muscle mass, visceral fat and BMR (basal metabolic rate). Its enclosure is not only coated with ITO (iridium tin oxide) for optimal results but it's also IPX5 certified (essentially water proof as long as you don't submerge it) and features a very large display on top. Inside the enclosure eufy has placed high-precision manganese steel sensors (which can accurately detect weight changes up to 50g) and both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity for use with their EufyLife Android/iOS app (also compatible with Apple Health, Google Fit and Fitbit) via which the P2 Pro can offer health tips and store results of your entire family including adults, children, babies and even pets. So, time to see what you can expect from the latest P2 Pro Smart Scale by eufy.

SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

eufy p2 pro review 1t

The P2 Pro arrived inside a green and white box that has a product picture at the front along with the main product features and of course the company logo.

On the left side we see the technical specifications of the P2 Pro smart scale and its Android and iOS requirements.

Moving at the rear eufy has printed descriptions of some of the main features in two languages.

Listed at the bottom are 6 of the 16 body measurements the P2 Pro offers.

The smart scale is wrapped with a plastic cover and placed inside a formed piece of cardboard.

Along with the P2 Pro Smart Scale inside the box you'll also find a tape measure, four AAA batteries and the owner’s manual.

THE P2 PRO

The eufy P2 Pro is one of best looking smart scales I’ve ever seen with a top made out of glass, metal and plastic (measures 280mm in width, 280mm in length and 26mm in height).

Eufy has placed their logo at the center of the P2 Pro.

As mentioned earlier the display at the top of the P2 Pro is quite large (roughly 70x30mm).

Turning the P2 Pro over we find 4 round rubber feet, unit change button and the battery compartment.

According to eufy the 4 AAA batteries can last up to half a year (with normal use of course).

The top screen can display weight in lbs (pounds), kg (kilograms) and st (stones).

EUFYLIFE APP

Once you use the EufyLife app for the first time it will ask you to add data on your gender, weight and age.

After that the app will create a 3D model of you which you'll see each time you open it next to which you'll see several measurements.

Pressing on the data box reveals all 16 available measurements under which eufy classifies the numbers with normal, low and high.

If you'd like to connect the EufyLife app with third party services like Apple Health, Google Fit or Fitbit you can do so from inside the devices tab (here you can also set a weighing reminder which by default is set at 8 in the morning).

Finally, from inside the settings tab you can change the mass unit, enable/disable the heart rate function, enable/disable safe mode (disables sending the electrical current through your body - not suitable for pregnant women and people with pacemakers), share the P2 Pro with other people and check for firmware updates.

CONCLUSION

eufy p2 pro review b

The P2 Pro Smart Scale by eufy is a very interesting device and even though it's not the only one of its kind in the market (so although it does offer more measurements i can't quite call it innovative) it's certainly among the most advanced models. Granted the BIA technology may not be the most accurate out there (it basically measures the rate at which a low-level electrical current travels through the body to produce results) but noone really expects a home oriented device to compete with clinical/medical models (which naturally cost a lot more and are not available for consumers). Surprisingly enough I did compare the results against what I got from my doctor after a quick check up just a week prior to using the smart scale and the P2 Pro actually came very close (only notable deviation was with fat percentage – 23 vs 28). Unfortunately, even though the top of the P2 Pro looks extremely nice it’s very easy to smudge so you’ll probably need to have a soft cleaning cloth nearby. As for the app not much to say, it delivers on everything I’d ever need from a smart scale and then some (i think the snaps included in this review say everything).

The really high-end consumer smart scales usually cost quite a bit (usually at around USD100/100Euros) so I was positively surprised to see that the eufy P2 Pro currently retails for just USD79.99 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 62.51Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de). So, with that in mind the P2 Pro is clearly a somewhat affordable smart scale and since it does deliver on everything eufy advertises for it clearly deserves the Golden Award.
