1more spearhead vrxa

We've stated numerous times in our reviews that both the PC and console gaming markets are extremely profitable currently so it's only normal and expected really to see more and more manufacturers enrich their product lines with gaming peripherals. Now the good news is that the last couple of years we've seen many audio specialists/manufacturers enter the PC and console gaming peripherals market with some pretty impressive gaming headsets (both stereo and surround ones) and although sometimes you do end up paying a premium for brand name (that's certainly not something new) this is not always the case. 1MORE released their very first 7.1 surround sound gaming headset called the Spearhead VR last year and after overwhelmingly positive feedback by consumers and reviewers alike they decided they could further tweak it and release it once again under the name Spearhead VRX (H1006).

1MORE was born with a profound mission: Music lovers, young or old, frugal or affluent, deserve to hear music as it was meant to be heard, as the artist intended it to be heard. Music lovers deserve to HEAR MORE. 1MORE offers MORE by transcending industry standards through revolutionary innovation, design and quality. Nothing should come between you and your music, for the goal of any great technology is to disappear. Through scrupulous engineering, streamlined manufacturing, and authentic marketing we provide a level of affordable luxury that no other brand can. There is a mountain of headphones brands. 1MORE isn't simply climbing that mountain. We are turning it upside down so everyone can reach the peak. 1MORE is globally distributed brand that has set up off-line channels in 25 provinces, more than 40 Hi-Fi audio reps, 3 Apple authorized chain store systems, and more than 3,000 brick and mortar stores in mainland China. 1MORE is also expanding rapidly into overseas markets. Our channels reach 26 countries and regions, including USA, Canada, England, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Australia, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Vietnam.

If you were to place the Spearhead VR Gaming Headphones right next to the brand new Spearhead VRX Gaming Headphones chances are you would not be able to tell them apart and so it's no wonder that 1MORE used almost the same name for the new model. Of course their similarities are not just skin deep so both are based on two 50mm maglev synchronized vibrating graphene drivers (20Hz-20KHz frequency response with 32Ohm impedance and 103dB sensitivity), dual noise cancelling microphones (front and rear for crystal clear communication), 8 available EQ presets by Grammy award winning sound engineer Luca Bignardi, steel frame, suspension mechanism and RGB LED lighting (over 16 million customizable colors with 4 different effects and adjustable brightness level). So what did 1MORE change/add in the new Spearhead VRX Gaming Headphones? Well leaving out some tiny changes in materials used (PU for the earmuff on the VRX as opposed to mesh cloth on the VR and Titanium colored stainless steel frame instead of Black) and a redesigned control software this time over instead of 7.1 surround sound they used a special head tracking DSP algorithm called Waves Nx (Waves Audio is an Technical Grammy Award winning audio innovator) which basically expands the 3D surround sound field thus immerging you in pretty much whatever it is you're using the headphones with from playing games and watching movies up to listening to music and making VOIP calls.

SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

1more spearhead vrx 1t

The Spearhead VRX Gaming Headphones arrived inside a thick black and red box that has a product picture at the front along with the 1MORE and Waves Nx logos.

1MORE lists the 3 main product features on the left side of the box.

Three product pictures located at the rear of the box are used to showcase the main product features.

The front of the box opens up to reveal the Spearhead VRX Gaming Headphones and several blueprints.

Along with the Spearhead VRX Gaming Headphones 1MORE also bundles a PU carrying/storage pouch, 1.3 meter long audio cable (gold plated 3.5mm plugs), two meter long USB to micro USB cable, case sticker, product catalog and the user manual.

THE SPEARHEAD VRX

The 1MORE Spearhead VRX is a medium sized model that weighs a total of 304g.

Just like the original Spearhead VR the VRX model also features an adjustable suspension mechanism headband.

1MORE has engraved their name on the exterior of both earcups as seen above right beneath their logo.

A retractable white LED tube is located on the exterior of the left earcup (on the other end 1MORE has placed the noise-cancelling microphone).

Both earcups fold/tilt slightly not only for optimal comfort but also to fit any type of head/ears.

Left and right markings are printed on the interior of both earpads as seen above (the breathable ear cushions may not be the largest ones we've ever seen but they are very comfortable).

The headpad may not be very padded but thanks to the suspension system it doesn't really have to be.

On the base of the left earcup we find the 3.5mm port and the micro USB port while at the rear we see the bass/volume control knob/button, and the microphone on/off (mute) button.

Thanks to the several RGB LEDs on the exterior of the earcups, the hinges and the tube the Spearhead VRX Gaming Headset also delivers in terms of looks.

CONTROL SOFTWARE

pro1t
1MORE redesigned their entire control software for the Spearhead VRX and so now from the main page you can check the volume, microphone and vibration levels (you can adjust them either from the headset or from within the software), check the speaker and microphone frequencies, enable/disable ENC (environmental noise cancelation) and change the language.

From the head tracking tab you can calibrate the Spearhead VRX for use with the Waves Nx DSP algorithm.

The light tab is self-explanatory so from here you can change the color, brightness levels and speed of the LEDs and of course choose one of the 4 available modes (unfortunately although the Spearhead VRX has RGB LEDs in 3 different areas they can't be controlled separately).

If the default EQ preset is just too flat for you worry not since 1MORE ships the Spearhead VRX with 8 available presets by Grammy award winning sound engineer Luca Bignardi (of course you can always create your very own EQ).

CONCLUSION

1more spearhead vrxb

1MORE released the Spearhead VR Gaming Headset just a few months prior to us getting in touch with them so although i really hoped we could had checked it out (would make it possible for us to compare both models) they had already begun working on the VRX model. With that out of the way after testing the Spearhead VRX for almost 1 full week we can say with certainty that this sits right next to the Arctis Pro With GameDAC by SteelSeries (and that says a lot). Thanks to the materials used the Spearhead VRX may be very light (just 304g) but it also feels quite durable and as for its design well we expect that it will appeal to most gamers and enthusiasts out there (unfortunately although it would be a nice touch 1MORE didn’t implement different RGB lighting zones). When set at anything beneath 50% the vibration system is certainly not the most “powerful” we’ve encountered to date with a gaming headset but once you surpass 50-60% it really does add to realism when watching movies (especially when there are explosions on the screen) or playing games (primarily action/FPS ones like the upcoming Battlefield V title - you can literally feel explosions and sonic waves/booms). Where the Spearhead VRX excels however is audio quality especially when the Waves Nx DSP algorithm is turned on. Even with it turned off the headphones produce crisp and accurate mids and highs (including clear vocals) but when enabled they all get taken up a notch and ontop of that you’re also getting optimal/rich 3D positioning audio surpassing everything we’ve heard recently by similar headsets/headphones. Of course you can only use the Waves Nx DSP algorithm while the Spearhead VRX is plugged in to your computer via USB so do keep that in mind if you hope to also make use of it while hooked to 3.5mm devices. Also the 8 available EQ presets almost guarantee that you will find at least one to fit your taste and if by some miracle that doesn’t happen well you can always adjust the frequencies manually to produce your very own result.

The Spearhead VRX Gaming Headphones by 1MORE were released yesterday with an attached price tag on them of USD199.99 in the USA (Amazon.com) and for 209.99Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de). This is set quite higher compared to the Spearhead VR model (even when it was first released) and although we never had the chance to check that specific model out we can say with certainty that the Waves Nx DSP algorithm is certainly worth the extra cost (not to mention that most similar headsets by other audio specialist manufacturers feature even higher price tags). Overall the Spearhead VRX Gaming Headphones leave almost nothing left desired (personally I would had gone with slightly larger and more padded ear cushions but some people would probably call that bulky) and for that they get our Platinum Award.
