Marvell (NASDAQ:MRVL), a leader in storage, networking, and connectivity semiconductor solutions, has been named a 2017 Clarivate Analytics Top 100 Global Innovator. Marvell received the award for its deep culture of innovation and robust intellectual property achievements with more than 9,000 patents worldwide. This honor underscores Marvell’s mission to develop industry-leading technologies in storage, network infrastructure and wireless connectivity to support the transmission of high-speed digital data. 

The annual report produced by Clarivate Analytics highlights the most successful organizations in the world that are active in innovation through research and development, protection of their intellectual property and achievement of commercial success.

Placement on the list has become the standard measure for innovation across the world and is recognized as a significant achievement for those who are named. Clarivate Analytics’ Top 100 Global Innovator award celebrates innovative businesses that prioritize investment in unique and enduring inventions. These organizations solidify their positions by successfully bringing patents to market and enjoying global commercial potential.

The organizations in the 2017 Top 100 represent three continents and 11 different markets, with major innovation hubs Japan and the USA constituting 75% of the list.

The 2017 Clarivate Analytics Top 100 Global Innovator methodology is based on four principle criteria: overall patent volume, patent application-to-grant success rate, global reach of the portfolio and patent influence as evidenced by citations. The peer-reviewed methodology was executed using Clarivate solutions, including Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI). The index provides editorially enhanced, authoritative and accurate patent data and is trusted by more than 40 patent offices worldwide.
