Synology® Inc. today announced the official release of Surveillance Station 7.2. With the latest version of its powerful video surveillance software, Synology introduces support for I/O modules, more secure Central Management System (CMS) and Live View interface tweaks.

"One of the strengths of Surveillance Station 7.2 is its increased versatility and interoperability to fit in a vast variety of surveillance installations, independently of their size," said Jonathan Wang, Product Manager for Synology Surveillance Station. "In addition, we have kept refining our Central Management System and Live View interface to make them even more secure and convenient."

When connected with I/O modules, Surveillance Station can serve as the central hub of various automation devices such as LED lights, electromagnetic locks, motion detectors, and many more. Completely integrated with Synology Central Management System and Action Rules, the I/O Module application in Surveillance Station can be used to administrate a dozen triggering methods and have them interact in smart ways with other devices.

QuickConnect is now integrated with CMS, allowing you to bridge servers without any network knowledge. In addition, HTTPS is now supported for inter-server communications. CMS users can now receive combined notifications for similar events to keep their information stream clear and precise.

Keyframe interval can be manually configured in order to find balance while encoding videos: less time in-between increases the overall stream stability and quality while increasing the interval reduces bandwidth consumption.

Surveillance Station Live View now rearrange itself automatically depending on the amount of camera streams being displayed with the Auto-layout option. In addition, E-Maps are improved for more clarity: it's possible to place or hide various resizable icons such as IP cameras, fisheye cameras, I/O modules, and door controllers.

Finally, NVR216's embedded Surveillance Station benefits from an entire revamp of the user privilege system, allowing administrators to create, remove, or assign users specific privileges directly from within the interface of the device displayed on a local monitor through an HDMI cable.
