Toshiba Europe GmbH announces a duo of new tablets running Windows 8.1 Update with Bing – the 25.65 cm (10.1”) Encore 2 Write WT10PE-A, and the 20.32 cm (8”) Encore 2 Write WT8PE-B. Both models come with TruPen so users can bring precision and control to their work – taking notes in meetings or lectures, sketching, editing photos or simply when it’s more natural to create by hand. Encore 2 Write tablets are ideal travel companions, delivering a powerful Intel® Atom™ performance to help users get the most out of their day. Both devices include a one year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 Personal that enables OneNote syncing in the cloud across devices, providing extensive connectivity needed to support life on the move.

With the sleek and light 25.65 cm (10.1”) Encore 2 Write, the larger screen is bright, clear and more immersive when viewing media – it’s also perfect for using the TruPen to write, draw, edit intricate details on photos or input data with pin-point accuracy. For those who demand more mobility, there’s the elegant 20.32 cm (8”) Encore 2 Write, which is optimised for one-handed use in portrait mode so easily replaces a notebook when taking minutes or writing lists for work and study.

Enhanced accuracy
The Encore 2 Write is designed to have the best and instinctive handwriting experience thanks to collaboration between Toshiba and Wacom. The TruPen, powered by Wacom feel IT technologies (branded feelTM), provides a smooth writing experience enabling high accuracy and friction levels close to that of writing with pen and paper regardless of speed. It is also ergonomically designed, making it comfortable to hold, even over longer periods of time and because it has a pressure-sensitive tip, users are always in complete control of every line they write or draw. Each model’s elegant design features a special slot for attaching the pen to the tablet, so it’s always to hand for jotting down ideas or developing to-do lists.

The preinstalled TruNote handwriting application, with an intuitive interface and working closely with Microsoft Office 365 Personal, enables users to organise and make the most of their content. With the Quick Note function, users can start jotting down memos even when not logged in – memos will then be automatically displayed when TruNote is launched. The search functionality  allows all handwritten characters in TruNote to be found, while web searches can also be conducted using previously written text. Handwritten notes can quickly be converted for greater use in Microsoft Office, for example, in the form of new emails in Outlook or presentations in PowerPoint.

Powered with precision
Encore 2 Write tablets are powered by an Intel® AtomTM processor, to provide users with the performance and speed required to enjoy the latest applications, with stunning graphics and fast start-up. Both models also come with 2 GB of memory for improved multi-tasking and a smoother performance and with a battery life that lasts up to 8.5 hours , the Encore 2 Write lasts all day on the move, without the need to recharge it.

True-to-life images
Whenever users spot a photo opportunity, they can capture the action in high-resolution detail on the 8 MP rear camera with auto-focus. There’s also a 1.2 MP front-facing camera with built in microphone for Skype video calling. Together with TruCapture, the rear camera can also take photos of whiteboards, documents or projections for use in classes, meetings and presentations where the legibility of information is improved by intelligently cropping and correcting the colors and reducing reflection. In addition, printed words in images taken by TruCapture will be searchable and easily transferable into other applications thanks to the character recognition feature to save users from re-typing handwritten information.

Windows 8.1 with Bing
Encore 2 Write ships with Windows 8.1 Update with Bing, which includes several updated usability features. These tablets also come with a one-year subscription for Microsoft Office 365 Personal helping provide the freedom to read, edit, create and share documents or presentations on the go - using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access and OneNote. Up to 1 TB of OneDrive online storage  along with Skype phone minutes  are available as part of the subscription, so users can store and access their documents in the cloud or keep in touch with colleagues and friends. The subscription also allows Microsoft Office 365 Personal to be installed on one other PC to add further productivity to existing devices and providing a consistent Windows experience across devices.

“Toshiba’s new Encore 2 Write with TruPen technology and Microsoft OneNote provide users with a new level of digital productivity,” said Peter Han, VP of Worldwide OEM Marketing, Microsoft Corp. “And with the ability to sync their OneNote data in the cloud, their connected experience across devices is enhanced.”

Connected, and ready for anything
A range of flexible connections means users can quickly transfer their videos, games and music as well as displaying content on larger screens. Both tablets feature a Micro-USB port for sharing content, and a microSD slot meaning storage can also be expanded by up to 128 GB if more space is needed for photos and documents. The Encore 2 Write WT10PE-A also has a Micro-HDMI® output for displaying media on a bigger screen or without the need for wires via wireless display support on both models. The inclusion of dual microphones with beamforming feature provides clarity to video calls by suppressing the background noise and focusing the audio on those directly near the tablet.  With the performance of Dolby® Digital Plus Advanced Audio, users can immerse themselves in authentic surround sound, while any noise interference is eliminated.

Distinctively stylish, by design
With the stylish elegance of a Satin GoldTM chassis and matching slim bezel, Encore 2 Write tablets really stand out. Built with ergonomics in mind, both tablets have rounded edges for easier holding, while the speakers are positioned so the audio isn’t compromised when the device is held. Function is also a key part of the design, so all ports and buttons have been carefully positioned to make connecting to devices instinctively quick and simple.

User-friendly for increased productivity
Toshiba Display Utility is readily accessible via the desktop and enlarges elements, such as menu text and icons, to make them easier to see and use onscreen. Not only does this make life simpler rather than changing viewing settings, it offers an improved user experience for all, particularly on the smaller Encore 2 Write WT8PE-B.

The Encore 2 Write tablets will be available in Europe during the first quarter of 2015.
