Amsterdam, 3 December 2014: MMD, the leading technology company and brand license partner for Philips Monitors, announces a big-screen 40-inch addition to the line-up of Philips 4K Ultra HD displays. Offering four times the clarity and four times the resolution of Full HD, the new 40-inch BDM4065UC display delivers a dazzling viewing experience, unrivalled detail and precision in every application. The extra-large desktop provides plenty of room to spread out on, so users can navigate multiple applications and windows simultaneously, without ever losing the productivity-enhancing sense of space.

A 40-inch desktop spread
Commenting on the new 40-inch display with UltraClear 4K UHD resolution, Thomas Schade, Vice President EMEA at MMD says, “This new UltraClear UHD display is an exciting addition to the 4K line-up and sizes up the viewing experience at 4K level. With the clarity and brilliance of 4K UHD and 40 inches of screen real estate to play with, users will really notice the sense of space and precision detail in everything they do – from complex financial applications and scientific imaging to gaming or streaming movies.”

Quadruple clarity and boost productivity with 4K UHD resolution
Ultra High Definition offers four times the resolution of Full HD, and at 3840 x 2160 pixels the display packs four times as many pixels onto the same area. Yet far from being a technical gizmo with few real-life benefits, 4K UHD delivers appreciable value to professional users. Photographers and videographers, for instance, can zoom in on fine detail with unrivalled clarity, and the new display’s true 8-bit and FRC colour depth ensures colour fidelity as well as UltraClear images.
Nor is it just creatives who gain from 4K UHD resolution: there is more space to spread out on for every productivity application. For instance, the new display transforms the viewing experience for finance professionals, who can run data-intensive applications in multiple windows and still retain the sense of space and clarity of detail across their entire desktop. Using MultiView, users can show four Full HD windows simultaneously. The VA panel technology ensures that details and colours stay true from any viewing angle, even almost side-on. And for users who can’t get enough space, the ultra-narrow bezel design makes it possible to place two 40-inch displays side by side without the distraction of physical bezels. The result: a stunning panoramic view.

Ultra-versatile connectivity
The new 40-inch 4K Ultra HD display is strong on connectivity, designed to give professionals and home users freedom of choice for work and leisure. With highest bandwidth digital connections, the display can hook up to a wide range of media sources, enabling users to experience all their content in 4K Ultra HD brilliance on the 40-inch widescreen. The DisplayPort 1.2 digital PC-to-Display link supports data transfer speeds of up to 10.8 Gbps, for faster imaging and zero-latency refresh rates. Also upping the connectivity choices are MHL support for enjoying mobile content on the big screen (while charging the mobile device at the same time), superfast USB 3.0, and HDMI 1.4, for streaming high quality digital video and audio signals from a PC or other AV source.

The new Philips 40-inch BDM4065UC display is now available at a suggested retail price of GBP 549.
