Basingstoke – October 6, 2014: Sony has today expanded its family of videoconferencing systems with the addition of the new PCS-XC1, which is capable of resolutions up to 1080p 60-fps1. A powerful yet easy-to-use HD system, the PCS-XC1 offers superb picture and sound quality with the added benefit of wireless compatibility and versatile collaboration tools, allowing organisations’ meetings to be held anywhere in the world.
The PCS-XC1’s Exmor CMOS sensor and View-DR technology produce clear imaging even when shooting near window light, or under other harsh office lighting conditions, for example, when a projector is in use. The View-DR technology achieves this by adjusting the brightness of each pixel to bring out shadows and tone down hot spots, and the PTZ camera can be adjusted to support any desired viewing angle.
The standard system transmits HD images at 720p resolution up to 60-fps. The optional PCSA-RXC1 HD upgrade software boosts transmission capability up to 1080/60p, enabling simultaneous 30-fps transmission of HD conference video and an H.239-complaint desktop screen image, both at 1,920×1,080 resolution. With the upgrade in place, the system is a perfect solution for design conferences and similar venues requiring sharing of high-resolution images.
The PCS-XC1’s sound optimisation technology ensures high-quality audio by adjusting for ambient acoustics and microphone positioning. This works in conjunction with a new microphone-range adjustment feature to deliver clear reproduction of sounds both near and far from the microphone.
As a compact integrated unit, the PCS-XC1 weighs in at 1.8kg (just under 4 pounds), making it easy to carry. This portable form factor makes it ideal for huddle rooms, conference rooms and office spaces of all sizes. Installation of the optional PCSA-WXC1 wireless software and attachment of a USB wireless LAN module enable easy mobile video conferencing via wireless LAN.
Alessandro Marcello, Product Manager Visual Communication solutions, Sony Europe said: “The PCS-XC1 makes mobile participation a reality. Simply installing Sony’s mobile access software (PCSA-SAG1) onto the PCS-XC1 system, and installing the H.323-compliant IPELA Communication Mobile app (PCS-MEP) on your tablet or smartphone enables conference participation while on the move.“ He continued: “With its attractive price and a robust set of optional features, the PCS-XC1 offers an effective, high cost-performance solution for a wide range of customers. Videoconferences can now be flexible and portable, rather than being confined to one room – the PCS-XC1 eliminates these traditional boundaries.”
The PCS-XC1 will be available from November, 2014.
