A product for everyone and a strong heritage: Acer presents “A Touch More Connected” at IFA 2014

Acer today unveiled its exciting new product lineup for the upcoming holiday season at its global press conference at IFA 2014. The new products include two Aspire R series convertible notebooks, two Aspire Switch series 2-in-1 PCs, three Iconia series tablets, and a Liquid series smartphone.

The last quarter’s performance demonstrated the company’s turnaround is on track with a return to growth and profitability. Acer is now focusing on pursuing excellence through a wide product range creating outstanding value for users at all price points.

A Touch More Successful
Since the beginning of the year, Acer has successfully managed a turnaround moving from a hardware vendor to an ITC (Information, Technology, Communication) company offering hardware, services and solutions from one source. And the results speak for themselves: during the last two quarters, Acer experienced a strong gain in market share and successfully stabilized as a company.

“We have focused on the immediate decisions that were needed to transform the company,” said Jason Chen, Acer Corporate President and CEO. “Today we offer an extensive portfolio of devices with quality services and affordable prices, ranging from 1 to 100 inches.”

One reason for this positive development is Acer’s connection to customers and users and its ability to streamline priorities to set-up the right foundation and accomplish the best results, particularly the choice and design of products. The company’s main goal is to provide the best choice of products, quality and value for everyone at any price point. Putting users’ needs at the center is deeply rooted in Acer’s DNA and heritage.

Chen added, “By rediscovering our DNA, Acer is providing people with devices which contribute to a better, connected world, especially as we continue to market aggressively our tablets, 2-in-1s and expand our smartphone business.”

A Touch More Connected
Acer’s launch event was under the heading of “A Touch More Connected” which has become a lasting theme for the company through its turnaround.

People are longing for connection. Staying in touch with friend, family members and colleagues is essential and ever easier. This connection is Acer’s focus: with Acer devices everyone stays in touch with the people and the things they love - quicker and easier. In 2014 Acer has put great focus into its Build Your Own Cloud (BYOC™) services, which enable individuals and organizations to securely manage their connected world. BYOC allows the many, not just the few to enjoy the full benefits of technology and enhance their quality of life.

Connectivity and the accessibility of the latest technologies to everyone are at the heart of what Acer is practicing.

“A Touch More Connected” is also the latest expression of Acer’s “A Touch More” marketing campaign, with version 2.0 being launched at IFA to rekindle the excitement among end-users and partners. Targeting ‘modern day explorers’ and style-conscious consumers, the campaign will focus on highlighting innovation in touchscreen technology and form factors and associate the brand with the sense of touch in how people use devices. The campaign will focus particularly on Acer’s flagship Aspire and Iconia brands across their range of touch enabled notebooks, convertibles, 2-in-1 PCs and tablets.

In every way Acer is becoming “A Touch More Connected.”

A Touch More for Everyone
We live in a time of new technologies and form-factors that are improving and facilitating people’s lives. Therefore, Acer strives to break down barriers between people and technology and make its products available as well as affordable for everyone. Being consumer-centric has always been part of Acer’s DNA and the continuation of that heritage is clearly visible at IFA 2014.

Acer’s new products target a multitude of needs. The new Aspire V Nitro series notebooks, including the Black Edition models, are powerful and elegant for ambitious people who enjoy pure entertainment to go with their creativity. The Aspire R and the Aspire Switch series with multi-modes enhance peoples’ lives for work and play.

Acer also has a new line-up of tablets including three outstanding additions: The Iconia Tab 8 W, an 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet for productivity on the go; the Iconia Tab 10, a 10-inch tablet for people who prefer a larger screen for personal entertainment; and the Iconia One 8, a new 8-inch tablet for people who want a light and portable tablet which is ideal for dynamic multimedia enjoyment, anywhere.

To round up Acer’s IFA launch, the new Liquid Z500 smartphone is added to Acer’s smartphone portfolio for people looking for affordable devices with the latest technologies.

With Acer, everyone can find the product that suits their needs best, while also getting the full package: elegant design, high-quality materials, and the latest technology.
