QNAP® Systems, Inc., a leading innovator in computing, networking, and storage solutions, today introduced industry-leading high-capacity JBOD expansion units featuring USB 4 connectivity: the 8-bay desktop TL-D810TC4 and 12-bay rackmount TL-R1210TC4-RP, delivering up to 40Gbps theoretical bandwidth. Their USB 4 Type-C ports are also compatible with Thunderbolt™ 5/4/3, giving creators and businesses a convenient, cost-efficient, and flexible way to expand storage.

The new USB 4 JBOD series supports SATA 6Gb/s HDDs and SSDs, allowing users to flexibly expand their NAS or computer storage based on their environment and workflow needs. This enables rapid capacity expansion and enhanced data protection. Its optimized ventilation and active cooling ensure stable performance and long-term reliability during extended operation. Whether for short-term projects, media creators requiring high-speed expansion, or businesses focused on long-term archiving and scheduled backups, the QNAP USB 4 JBOD series delivers a dependable and flexible storage expansion solution.

QNAP also introduces the QXP-40G2UC Dual-port USB 4 Type-C PCIe expansion card designed for Intel®- and AMD-based NAS, enabling users to add USB 4 connectivity to their NAS, and easily connect to USB 4 JBOD units for high-speed data transfer and capacity expansion. Supported models are subject to the QNAP Compatibility List.

“Most USB 4 expansion products on the market are small SSD enclosures that cannot meet large-capacity storage or mid-to-long-term expansion needs,” said Eddie Chuang, Product Manager of QNAP. “QNAP’s USB 4 JBOD lineup breaks these limitations by enabling laptops, workstations, and NAS users to expand storage while maintaining convenience, high speed, and stability. It is a cost-effective solution for both creators and business users who require scalable high-capacity storage.”

Key Features of the QNAP USB 4 JBOD Series:

  • TL-D810TC4: The 8-bay desktop model supports Windows®, macOS, and QNAP NAS, and features a metal enclosure and cooling fan. Its compact design is optimized for creators working long hours on desktop workflows, enabling fast processing of 4K/8K video editing assets and backup tasks.
  • TL-R1210TC4-RP: The 12-bay 2U rackmount model with dual power supplies supports Windows® and QNAP NAS, and is purpose-built for server rooms and backup environments requiring continuous and reliable operation. Ideal for SMBs demanding large-capacity data storage and resilient backup architectures.

Both models include a single USB 4 Type-C port and come with a USB 4 cable in the box. They are compatible with USB 4, Thunderbolt™ 5/4/3 devices. Users can choose standalone external-storage mode or create software RAID for enhanced capacity and data protection. JBOD and drive status can be monitored and configured through management tools.

USB 4 Expansion Card for QNAP NAS:
