JBL today announced the Flip 7 Magnet, a flexible mounting solution that brings portable JBL Pro Sound to boats, golf carts, RVs, powersports vehicles and more. The purpose-built magnetic accessory securely holds the best-selling JBL Flip 7 on compatible metal surfaces, while an included receiver plate extends placement to nonmagnetic surfaces. JBL Flip 7 Magnet will be available as a bundle with JBL Flip 7 and as a standalone accessory.
Aboard a boat, the Magnet accessory can keep the Flip 7 off seats, decks and countertops and closer to the area where passengers are gathered, helping improve sound placement while reducing clutter. The speaker can then move from the boat to the dock or another activity without a permanent audio installation. The same flexibility suits golf carts, ATVs and UTVs, RVs, bicycles, scooters and a wide range of indoor and outdoor settings.
“Portable audio is most useful when it can stay close to where people are spending their time,” said Shawn Spedding, Director of Sales, Mobil Audio Aftermarket and Consumer Audio, Americas. “The JBL Flip 7 Magnet gives boaters a secure, flexible way to position the Flip 7 around the boat and then take the same speaker to the dock, golf cart, RV or trail. The Flip 7's IP68 durability and Auracast connectivity make the package well suited to recreation that moves from place to place.”
The Flip 7 brings legendary JBL sound to the package with enhanced bass, clear high frequencies and JBL AI Sound Boost. The proprietary algorithm analyzes music in real time and optimizes the speaker's output for maximum acoustic performance with less distortion, producing bigger sound from a speaker that remains easy to carry around the boat or take ashore. The battery provides up to 14 hours of playtime, with up to two additional hours available through Playtime Boost. Those features support open-air listening on the water, at a campsite, in a golf cart or around the backyard.
Auracast™ allows two Flip 7 speakers to operate as a stereo pair or lets users connect multiple Auracast-enabled JBL speakers to extend the same music across a larger area. USB-C lossless audio playback supports compatible sources, while the JBL Portable app provides updates and customizable audio controls. The Flip 7 also features JBL's PushLock interchangeable accessory system, with a loop and carabiner supplied with the standard speaker.
The contoured bracket uses high-strength magnets to attach to suitable ferrous-metal surfaces without rubber straps or clamps. For fiberglass, aluminium, wood, plastic and other nonmagnetic materials commonly found on boats and recreational vehicles, the included receiver plate creates a dedicated mounting point. The speaker mounts and unmounts quickly, while the bracket is designed to preserve access to the Flip 7 controls and USB-C port and avoid interference with Bluetooth connectivity. The bracket is designed for outdoor and mobile use and for exposure to direct sunlight, salt water, mud, pressurized water and common cleaning liquids. Its contact points are designed to secure the Flip 7 without leaving clamp marks.
Marine dealers, boatbuilders and installers can position the JBL Flip 7 Magnet as a portable complement to built-in marine audio or a flexible solution for smaller boats. The package also creates an easy-to-merchandise option for golf cart distributors and manufacturers, RV OEMs, powersports dealers and specialty retailers. The receiver plate can extend placement to compatible screw or bolt locations, including bicycle bottle-cage mounts, and to suitable wall or overhead locations where permitted by the installation instructions.
Beyond those vehicle categories, the Magnet accessory can secure the Flip 7 to suitable metal fixtures or receiver-plate-equipped surfaces in garages, workshops, patios, campsites, tailgating setups and other home, work or recreation settings. Users can add compatible Auracast-enabled speakers as needed to distribute audio across a boat, campsite, event space or other gathering area.
