EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced that its ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 HDR reference monitor was awarded the 2020 Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) Award for Engineering Excellence.
Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the HPA Awards were founded to recognize creative artistry and innovation in the professional media content industry. The Engineering Excellence Award rewards outstanding technical and creative ingenuity in media, content production, finishing, distribution, and archive.
The ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 is the first true HDR reference monitor in the world with a built-in calibration sensor. The monitor was recognized for its advanced technologies that put it at the forefront of innovation in creative visual solutions.
HPA Awards Engineering Committee Chair Joachim Zell said, “As Chair of the HPA Engineering Award committee I did not vote in 2020, but as an imaging scientist and workflow designer I evaluated and tested this EIZO monitor a couple of times. Its color gamut and tonal curve accuracy coming out of the box is amazing. Its self-calibration, when switching to different color gamut settings or when running it over time, always matched my measurements taken by my $20K dollar calibration probe, staying within the accepted tolerances. I did not share any of my finding with the judges of the 2020 HPA award but EIZO still came out as an award winner. Congratulations for convincing our industry professional judges and winning the 2020 HPA Engineering award.”
