Lately it seems that slowly but steadily gaming chairs are taking over the gaming peripherals market and so it's not really a surprise that more and more manufacturers want to win a piece/chunk of this market by releasing their very own models. Now as we've stated in previous reviews the majority of those companies is actually just using rebranded OEM models so you can expect to see many nearly "identical" models in the market with colors and brand logos as their many differences. Still what truly matters in the end is not which manufacturer (OEM or not) is behind a certain gaming chair but whether or not that specific model is worth your hard earned money and that's pretty much why we're here. Nitro Concepts only produces gaming chairs (at least to date) and with us today we have their flagship (yet affordable) E220 EVO Model.

The Nitro Concepts team consists of experienced veterans from the textile industry, who are all avid gamers at the same time. We have banded together at the end of 2015 in our aspiration to create innovative high-quality, yet affordable gaming products for every day home use, office use and professional eSports alike. Thanks to our profound know-how and deep industry ties, we are in the unique position to develop relaxing gaming chairs from choice materials with intriguing characteristics. We have listened closely to user feedback for years and are committed to deliver exactly those gaming chairs to the market that gamers crave for, while maintaining an excellent price-performance-ratio. Our clear focus on smart ergonomics, stylish design and user-friendly functionality enables gamers around the world to unleash their full skill potential. The lauded comfort of each Nitro Concepts gaming chair lets you fully concentrate on the gameplay at hand without any undesired distractions. For individualization, every Nitro Concepts chair is always available in sundry color variants.

Nitro Concepts currently offers a total of 32 gaming chair models in 5 gaming lines (EVO/RACE/PURE/COMFORT/MOTION) with the E220 EVO placed at the top. Still although Nitro Concepts probably has you covered when it comes to design (mainly because of their numerous color combinations) the same is not entirely accurate when it comes to features/specifications since even the E220 EVO line falls somewhat short when compared to some other models we've seen recently. That being said the E220 EVO is dressed in vegan PU faux leather (currently available in 7 color combinations) and features a durable steel frame, two areas covered with breathable soft fabric (backrest and seat), class-4 gaslift (up to 120Kg for the user), height adjustable seat (48-57cm), Nylon/Polyurethane 50mm casters and rocking function of up to 15 degrees. We don't have a specific number in regards to foam padding density but after sitting in it for roughly 10 days I’d say it's somewhere around 50-55Kg/M3.

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

nitro concepts e220 evo 1t

Once again the gaming chair in our hands arrived inside a large and plain cardboard box (this time however we see a drawing of the chair at the front).

We'd like to see slightly better protection for the chair but it did arrive without issue so we can't complain really.

First to get out of the box were the two long armrests.

Next were the gaslift cover, 14 mounting screws, 6 washers, Allen key, 6 plastic covers and a sticker.

The 5-star aluminum base was next (white is never a good choice for our photo bench).

Moving on next we got the height adjustment mechanism and the class-4 gaslift.

The seat and the backrest are usually the first things to come out but in this box they were actually among the last.

Unfortunately the E220 EVO doesn't feature backrest adjustment as revealed by this piece of metal used to connect the backrest to the seat.

Finally we got the 5 black and orange 50mm casters out of the box.

ASSEMBLY

Despite what the installation instructions may say we once again started assembling the chair by attaching the 50mm wheels to the 5-star base as seen above.

50mm wheels are not something we don't see often but they do look especially small here (as you will see later on as well).

After that come the class-4 gaslift and its plastic cover.

As you can all see the base of the seat looks similar to what we've seen from other affordable models so there are no extras to help with sturdiness and/or comfort.

The E220 EVO uses the typical butterfly type height-adjustment mechanism as with the majority of gaming chairs in the market today.

Mounting the backrest to the seat requires 4 screws as seen above.

In order to mount the two armrests you will need to use three screws on each side of the backrest.

Just mount the armrests screw them in place and then place the plastic covers over the holes as showcased in the above picture.

The upper body of the E220 EVO is now ready so all that's left is for us to mount it onto the class-4 gaslift.

FINISHED LOOKS

nitro concepts e220 evo 21t

The E220 EVO may be a medium sized gaming chair but it's actually quite comfortable even for my brother who's almost 2 meters tall.

We also happened to have the black and white E220 EVO model here so we thought you’d want to have a look.

Our main problem with faux leather seats has always been that the base wears out during the summer due to contact with the skin when wearing shorts. Nitro Concepts seems to be aware of this so using soft fabric on the seat and the backrest seems to be a good choice (whether or not others will like it however that's not something we can say).

Nitro Concepts has stitched their logo on the head of the chair.

Although the E220 EVO doesn't feature adjustable armrests because of their length and size we found them quite comfortable (still the lack of padding is obvious after resting your arms on them for a while).

This of course is the rear of the E220 EVO.

CONCLUSION

nitro concepts e220 evob

If you take a look at the current gaming chair lines offered by Nitro Concepts it's quite evident that they don't aim to compete with other players for the highest-end model. Instead they seem to focus in producing affordable models aimed towards gamers who are not willing or who simply can't afford to spend way too much on a gaming chair. Because of that even the E220 EVO which sits at the top of their current products lacks features such as adjustable armrests (no need for 4D ones, even height would be enough), removable pillows and perhaps more importantly an adjustable backrest. The good news is that although the E220 EVO doesn’t feature removable pillows for back and neck support the design of the backrest partially makes up for that since it does support your back quite well. Unfortunately not being able to adjust the backrest angle is something we believe no chair should be without and although yes I realize that to some people this may not be important when we see it on similarly priced chairs it makes very little sense to not also see it here. Of course as mentioned earlier we did like the two breathable fabric areas on the seat and the backrest since this means the E220 EVO will probably last longer compared to other similarly priced chairs (it also increases the level of comfort) so bravo to Nitro Concepts for that.

While I’m typing the final lines of this review the Nitro Concepts E220 EVO Gaming Chair currently retails for USD249 inside the USA from Newegg and for 199.90Euros inside the EU from Caseking a price tag which we feel is almost balanced for what you’re getting (a bit lower in the US wouldn't hurt). Of course for the same and even less we’d probably go for the TGC-40 by ThunderX3 (backrest and arm rest adjustment) but in the end it comes down to which chair you like more in terms of design. Overall the E220 EVO may not bring anything new on the table and it’s certainly nothing we haven’t seen in the past but thanks to its design, breathable fabric areas and good comfort levels it comes highly recommended by us for people on a budget.
