Luckily the growing number of companies that have as their sole job to design and manufacture portable battery packs and the infinite number of models currently available in the market mean that the same doesn't apply for most people and so such devices just might be amongst the top hottest things in the market currently. From the moment NikKTech came online we have used and reviewed quite a few such devices some of which yielded exemplary results while others unfortunately didn't even make it to our pages due to hardware errors. XTPower is behind some of the best models currently out in the market including the massive MP-23000A (although now they released the MP-32000A) which we reviewed a while back but since it was obviously too much for most people we just had to check their more "mainstream" models the first of which is the XT-10000ADF Portable Battery.

   Although the design of the XT-10000ADF is very compact still it features an 10.000mAh lithium-polymer rechargeable battery and can be used to simultaneously charge up to two devices with its two 5V USB ports (1x1000A/1x1000-2100A). In cases of an emergency the XT-10000ADF can also be used as a flashlight thanks to the small LED XTPower has placed at the front while a convenient 4 LED indicator is placed at the top so you can always know how much juice there's still left in the battery. Of course the thing with portable batteries is that many times there's a huge gap between the advertised capacity and the real capacity so let's see what the XT-10000ADF really has to offer.

The XT-10000ADF arrived inside a thin package with just the model name and the company logo at the front (the box doesn't offer great protection).

 

 

You can find the serial number of the product at the rear of the package.

 

 

A list of compatible devices is placed on the left side.

 

 

Aside the XT-10000ADF inside the box you will also find a microUSB to USB charging cable and the user’s manual.

 

 

THE XT-10000ADF

 

 

 

 

 

Measuring 133mm in length, 70mm in width and 11mm in thickness the XT-10000ADF is not that much larger compared to a regular everyday smartphone.

 

 

Pressing the button at the top once shows the remaining battery life while pressing it a second time turns the front LED on.

 

 

The connector names and the electrical specifications of the device are printed at the rear.

 

 

The two 5V USB charging ports are placed at the front of the device along with the LED flashlight and the microUSB charging port.

 

 

CONCLUSION

 

 

 

 

 

   Compared to the much larger MP-23000A the XT-10000ADF may indeed seem as way too weak but it still offers two USB charging ports (1-2.1A), a small LED flashlight and a battery charge meter so for people who want something compact it should do just fine. Regarding the battery life after 8 days of tests we concluded that it's anywhere between 7000mAh and 7500mAh (it's able to recharge most smartphones up to 5 times) which is not bad considering that no battery pack ever offers 100% of its advertised capacity. Build quality is also quite nice although the silver painted areas may not stay for long if you're not very careful about where and how you store the device.

 

   Since there are countless portable battery packs with the same battery capacity we expected XTPower to follow a rather aggressive price policy with the XT-10000ADF which they obviously did since currently you can find it for just 33Euros inside the EU (Amazon.co.uk). It goes without saying that 10000mAh (or 8000-8500mAh according to our tests) may not be sufficient for people who may want to carry enough battery capacity with them to fully recharge both a tablet and a smartphone in which case something like the MP-23000A is a much better solution but for people who just want a failsafe in case their smartphone runs out of battery the XT-10000ADF Power Bank is the right gadget for the job and that's why it receives our Golden Award.
