For eight consecutive days beginning on April 18th, the world’s largest motor show attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors from the automotive world.

With China becoming a leading market for electromobility, autonomous driving and connected car technology, this year’s show provided HARMAN with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our next-generation automotive solutions including digital cockpit advancements for electric vehicles, Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, future-proof 5G-ready telematics solutions, and cybersecurity and data connectivity to drive the future of the in-vehicle experience.

Expanding our footprint with distinguished Chinese automakers, we were pleased to unveil some new customer partnership announcements during the show. HARMAN will further support our nearly 40-year commitment to BMW by soon delivering our infotainment modules to the leading German Automaker, and have partnered with Beijing Electric Vehicle Co., the largest new energy car manufacturer in China’s battery electric vehicle market, to bring our scalable Digital Cockpit solution to the new-energy automotive market. Great Wall Motors, China's largest SUV and pickup manufacturer, is continuing to partner with HARMAN to deliver next-generation infotainment and over-the-air (OTA) solutions in their latest vehicle line-up. We also announced that CHJ’s Electric Vehicle, the Leading Ideal One, will leverage HARMAN’s Ethernet Solution to deliver a substantial connected car experience to passengers.

HARMAN also showed Chinese automakers how we’re taking personalization to the next level with Personi-Fi, our latest solution offering audiophiles a customized sound profile that follows them from the car, to the home, or on the go.

HARMAN’s booth visitors also learnt how consumers could say hello to frustration-free conversations within the car with HARMAN’s Premium Communications solution, our first class microphone and noise-cancelling suite of technologies designed to make in-car communication smoother. Both Personi-Fi and Premium Communications solutions made their North American debut earlier this year at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show.

Meanwhile at the Automotive Operations Center within our showcase, we conducted several demonstrations of our expanded Over-the-Air (OTA) offerings, HARMAN’s highly intuitive digital cockpit, and our latest HARMAN Ignite 3.0 Platform that allows OEMs to seamlessly develop, manage and operate connected vehicle services.

But our presence at the show included more than demos, and customer announcements. HARMAN also held a press conference at the show, which started with a welcome speech by David Jin, HARMAN’s Chairman and President, Northeast Asia and China. Following the kick off speech, HARMAN President and Chief Executive Officer, Dinesh Paliwal, took the stage and delivered a keynote presentation, which touted HARMAN’s long-standing presence in China and our work with prestigious Chinese automakers. Mr. Paliwal further discussed how HARMAN has recognized that the true value that automobiles provide in 2019 is no longer exclusive to traditional performance-based metrics like RPM. But, rather on EPM – ‘Experiences Per Mile’ as advancements in mobility continue to change the way we experience transportation, and car continues to enter our connected, technological ecosystems. HARMAN’s leader also explained that together with Samsung, we have both the heritage and expertise in automotive to better serve the needs of automakers in today’s rapidly evolving automotive market.
