Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), today announced a strategic collaboration with Oracle to deliver secure key storage using the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 Level 3 certified hardware security modules (HSM) for the cryptographic keys that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure customers manage via the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Key Management service.

As enterprises move to the public cloud environment, secure key management has become an essential aspect to the security of businesses and customers. FIPS – the set of computer security standards established by the U.S. Federal Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) – was designed to create a uniform level of security for all federal agencies to protect sensitive but unclassified information and has become the benchmark for securing digital assets.

For more than a decade, Marvell security products have provided FIPS certified security solutions in regulated target markets that address high performance, high assurance, compliance and security needs. Oracle recently launched its key management service, enabling customers to move their workloads to the cloud and ensuring protected data by encryption keys that are securely stored and controlled by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure customers. Together, Marvell’s and Oracle’s complementary solutions provide regulated industries with a highly secure, scalable and robust key management capability for the cloud environment.

“Our collaboration with Oracle establishes Marvell as a clear leader in providing FIPS level solutions to cloud providers and demonstrates the maturity of our LiquidSecurity HSM products,” said Raghib Hussain, chief strategy officer and executive vice president of the Networking and Processors Group at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. “Marvell is committed to the changing needs of its cloud customers, who require secure and authenticated deployments, with storage for a large number of keys, domains, ease of management and migration, and high bandwidth connectivity.”

“Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s centralized key management service protects data with cryptographic keys that customers control, backed by Marvell’s FIPS certified HSM,” said Rahul Patil, senior vice president of Software Development, Oracle. “This collaboration enables Oracle Cloud Infrastructure customers to leverage industry-leading security standards to manage their cryptographic keys in the cloud.”
