India is an incredibly dynamic rich media market as it accounts for one of the largest television and movie industries in the world. Riding the digital wave, the Indian Media & Entertainment (M&E) sector has seen a 13% growth in the last year to reach Rs 1.5 trillion. The media and entertainment (M&E) sector thus continues to grow at faster rate than the GDP growth rate, reflecting the growing disposable income led by stable economic growth and changing demographics. With India poised for strong growth, 4K video is making headway. For everyone from a single editor to large post production houses and broadcast firms, the availability of high-bandwidth, low latency, high storage capacity post-production tools is fast becoming of critical importance.

Promise’s demo highlights at Broadcast India Show 2018 include:

  • VTrak D5000: The platform is optimized for high bandwidth and low latency which makes it a perfect storage solution for mid-tier IT applications, surveillance, backup, and running multiple mixed workloads.
  • Pegasus3: Utilizes Thunderbolt 3 technology to deliver blistering performance speeds for creative professionals working with high resolution video and rich media content. Promise’s new Pegasus3 family is available in 4-bay, 6-bay, and 8-bay configurations. The maximum capacity up is to 80TB (8x10TB).
  • SANLink3: The soon-to-be-released SANLink3 16G Fibre Channel interface and SANLink3 NBASE-T Ethernet interface will be featured in the Promise booth. SANLink3 N1 NBase-T lets you connect at 1, 2.5 or 5Gbps over most existing Ethernet wiring or up to 10Gbps on the latest high-speed networks. The SANLink3 16G FC interfaces with two Thunderbolt 3 ports to two Fiber Channel ports, all in a compact design.

“Promise has been a leader in developing cutting-edge Thunderbolt-enabled devices ever since we delivered some of the first peripherals with Thunderbolt technology to the market back in 2011,” said HC Chang, general manager, Promise Technology APAC (excluding China). “Now in its third generation, the Pegasus family continues to be the first choice for direct-attached storage for media professionals requiring reliable, fast connectivity with their workstations.”
