American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a global leader in BIOS and UEFI firmware, server and remote management tools, data storage products and unique solutions based on the Linux® and Android™ operating systems, is pleased to announce support for the new ISO/IEC 30115:2018 standard in its MegaRAC® Composer™ Pod Management Software.

Previously, the ISO/IEC 30115:2018 standard was known as the Redfish® API and was released in 2015 by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), an industry standards organization that works to simplify the manageability of network-accessible technologies through open and collaborative efforts by leading technology companies. The Redfish API was adopted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and published as ISO/IEC 30115:2018 in late April of 2018.

According to the announcement from DMTF, available at https://www.dmtf.org/content/dmtf-announces-adoption-redfish-iso-and-iec, this ISO/IEC publication will raise the profile of Redfish and increase its use and benefits:

"With an aggressive development schedule that has resulted in rapid advancement, Redfish’s publication by ISO/IEC as an International standard for Information Technology is expected to further accelerate worldwide adoption and interoperability.

Redfish is a standard API designed to deliver simple and secure management for converged, hybrid IT and the Software Defined Data Center (SDDC). Both human readable and machine capable, Redfish leverages common Internet and web services standards to expose information directly to the modern tool chain."

American Megatrends is a long-standing member of DMTF and participates actively in the development of standards and technologies put forth by DMTF. AMI also incorporates many of them into its firmware and remote management products to make them more powerful, accessible and efficient.

MegaRAC Composer Pod Management Software, which supports the ISO/IEC 30115:2018 (Redfish) standard, is a light and secure web-based management tool which allows users to browse physical resources at the rack, chassis and system level. Administrators can then compose and assign those physical resources to create a logical node, which provides the advantage of demand-driven dynamic scaling to optimize datacenter resource utilization.

More information about the ISO/IEC 30115:2018 / Redfish standard can be found on the DMTF website here: https://www.dmtf.org/standards/redfish.
