American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a global leader in BIOS and UEFI firmware, server and remote management tools, data storage products and unique solutions based on the Linux® and Android™ operating systems, is pleased to announce support for Intel®'s Innovation Engine (IE) on Intel Atom® C3000 Processors using Aptio® V UEFI Firmware.

American Megatrends, Inc. (AMI) has added support for the Innovation Engine from Intel® so AMI customers can take advantage of IE's numerous offerings and benefits. IE was developed as a cost-effective alternative to having a separate Baseboard Management Chip (BMC) soldered onto the board, which takes up space on the board and consumes power. The primary benefit of incorporating IE is so that OEMs have better manageability of their systems without incurring additional costs and power usage.

The IE code is cryptographically bound to the system developer; therefore OEMs can build their own hardware root of trust verification (HRTV) to validate digital signatures before system execution. If the digital signatures are not validated by the system builder, the system will not boot. Other features include using IE for Serial Over LAN (SOL) and logging BIOS status codes to IE. With the newly added support for IE, AMI enables customers to build customized systems that allow them to have more control over the architecture of their firmware.
