Sony today announced a firmware update for three Cyber-shot™ models, the DSC-RX100M3, DSC-RX100M4 and DSC-RX100M5. The Ver.2.00 upgrade enhances stability and usability of the cameras when used with Sony’s underwater housing, MPK-URX100A, and dedicated flash systems.

Previously, when using the MPK-URX100A users had to manually adjust their white balance settings to suit their preferred underwater shooting conditions. The updated software now adds an “Underwater Auto” setting, enabling the camera to automatically detect the corresponding underwater White Balance setting, helping photographers to get the most out of their underwater experience.

In addition, flash operation has been improved when using the camera with the underwater unit with the introduction of a “Flash-off” option. This reduces the chances of the flash unit unintentionally popping up inside the underwater housing when both are used.

Both these improvements help increase the overall stability and operability of the cameras, ensuring a much smoother user experience.

The Ver.2.00 firmware upgrade is downloadable for free on the Sony Support site.
