Toshiba Europe GmbH today announces the Portégé X30 and Tecra X40, elegantly engineered laptops which provide premium, powerful and secure experiences for professionals. Complete with exceptionally sleek, light-weight designs, the devices expand on the company’s range of ultra-thin, ultra-light business laptops and have been designed, produced and rigorously tested entirely by Toshiba.

The notebooks follow the recently launched hybrid 2-in-1 Portégé X20W , and benefit from Windows 10 Pro and the company’s longstanding expertise in mobile devices – from their magnesium chassis, to the hybrid cooling technology at work beneath them – which enables the maximum performance from the 7th Generation Intel® Core™ processors. Both laptops will be available in Toshiba’s iconic Onyx Blue and Light Gold colour scheme, complete with a slick, hairline finish.

“These additions to our notebook range mark our unswerving dedication to innovating for our business customers, creating products that don’t compromise on performance, connectivity, features, battery life or durability,” said Maki Yamashita, Senior Vice President, PC & Solutions EMEA, Toshiba Europe GmbH. “The Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 are the result of us channelling our heritage and expertise in mobile devices into every step of the development process, from design and manufacturing, to durability testing, and we’re confident this will shine through in the premium, professional experience they provide.”

Elegant engineering: performance without compromise The 14-inch Tecra X40 is 16.9mm thin and weighs 1.25kg, whilst the 13.3-inch Portégé X30 weighs in at 1.05kg and is just 15.9mm thin, 11-percent thinner and 13-percent lighter than its award-winning predecessor.1 Their premium, magnesium alloy ToughBody chassis have built-in shock absorption and unique honeycomb reinforcement for increased durability. Both notebooks benefit from Full HD (1920 x 1080) non-glare screens too, with optional In-Cell Touch technology to support more flexible ways of interacting with their crystal clear displays on the move. The displays also come complete with wide viewing angles without sacrificing optimum touch configurations.

Beyond their sleek screens, Toshiba’s attention to detail continues with the devices’ backlit keyboards, complete with keys which have been slightly enlarged to ensure optimum travel and durability for users working on the move. Toshiba continues to underline its confidence in the reliability of its new products through its Reliability Guarantee, which means Toshiba or a Toshiba Authorised Service Provider will provide a free repair and full refund in the unlikely event that the device breaks down within one year of purchase. 2

Secure and connected To ensure sensitive corporate data is well protected, the Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 feature multiple layers of security inside and out. Both include biometric and facial authentication technologies – most notably a new Touchpad with a built-in fingerprint sensor called SecurePad™ with Synaptics® Natural ID fingerprint sensor. This is in addition to IR cameras which enable facial authentication through Intel® Authenticate and Windows Hello face sign-in, offering a range of customisable multifactor authentication options available through the devices. Used in combination, they can provide a personal and password-free way to swiftly but securely log-in. These layers of protection are bolstered by Toshiba’s own built-in BIOS, which removes the risk of third party interference which could leave a device more vulnerable to attack and unauthorised access. To help business users keep connected and operate efficiently wherever they are, the Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 have advanced connectivity capabilities, including compatibility with a range of dongles for different usage scenarios. WWAN will also be available through the devices soon.

Premium portability and reliability Within their ultra-thin designs, the Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 have exceptionally fast PCIe solid state drives and DDR4 memory, which supports broadband speeds up to 33 per cent quicker than its DDR3L predecessor. Both notebooks also follow in the footsteps of the Portégé X20W-D in benefitting from a premium audio experience thanks to harman/kardon® stereo speakers and DTS Sound™ software. To maximise usability, the laptops are designed to be used with a new Thunderbolt 3 Dock which provides power, enables data transfers and a display port as well as host a range of modern ports to enable flexible, mobile working. This includes two USB Type-C™,3 a full size USB3.0 and HDMI port, as well as a microSD Card Slot. A SmartCard reader is also available with the devices.

Availability The Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 will be available across Europe, Middle East and Africa during the second quarter of 2017.
