ASUS has partnered with Robert Morris University (RMU) to furnish the school with over three dozen VG248QE gaming monitors for their newly constructed eSports arena. Home to over 7,000 undergraduates, the university has made waves recently, announcing that it would be the first ever to offer eSports scholarships to students. The scholarships awarded depend on several criteria including ranked performance in popular PC games like League of Legends and StarCraft.

Vivian Lien, Vice President of Marketing at ASUS Computer International, believes this a great opportunity to promote a fast-growing community. “ASUS has long been a gaming brand and cornerstone for eSports. These students are passionate gamers – they know us well and love our products. This is our way of showing them that we support their passion and we are very excited to work with RMU on making their education and gaming experience incredible.”

Associate Athletic Director at RMU, Kurt Melcher, confirmed his team’s excitement. “We couldn’t be happier about our partnership with ASUS. The VG248QE is what the students, some of whom are the top competitors in the nation, need to play at their best. With its unmatched clarity, refresh rate and response time, this monitor is going to give us the winning edge.” He added, “You know, a lot of people don’t consider eSports to be athletic. I couldn’t disagree more! These athletes go through hours of rigorous mental and physical training to be the best in their game and we’re ecstatic that ASUS has supported them.”

Training for competition will be intense in the new eSports Arena, which offers an elite gaming environment for 35 players and a coach. The RMU Eagles look forward to competing against many of the 550 teams in both the Collegiate Starleague and IVYLoL leagues during the season which lasts between October and January. Games will occur every Saturday against a Regional University opponent with the top eight in each region going to playoffs in March with the League Championship determined in April.
