INTRODUCTION

When 8 days ago I left for my extremely short vacations one of the things i had in my mind was to also use that time to test electronics that could come in handy so i purposely packed all my devices (some of them without a drop of battery power left) in my backpack to help me test a wide variety of portable products. Now i will not lie and so there is electricity where i went but i also didn't bring any chargers with me for that exact same reason. So instead of using normal wall chargers i chose to pack 3 fully charged portable battery packs with me which i then used to charge all of the devices i brought with me not only to see which of them works best but also whether or not their rated battery capacities come close to the claims of each manufacturer (they are never 100% on the spot). The first of those portable battery packs that i put to the test is the PB12000A by EasyAcc which as the name reveals features a massive 12000mAh lithium-polymer battery.

EasyAcc concentrates on providing great products, great value and great service to customers. EasyAcc always thinks of everything when it comes to our products because we want them to be the best they can be and everyone thinks differently and has different ideas, this helps us pack all the best ideas into the products. Great products, Great value, Great service are EasyAcc "3G" core values. As always, "100% customer satisfaction" is our firm commitment to our customers. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We will do our absolute best to provide you with a timely, and satisfactory reply and solution to your problem.

EasyAcc is not really amongst the most well-established manufacturers so when some of you emailed us asking about our opinion regarding their 12000mAh portable battery naturally our focus immediately fell on that specific feature cause obviously there aren't really many similar products in the market currently. However to our surprise that's not the sole "innovative" feature of the PB12000A and so it offers not the usual 2 USB ports we see all the time with similar products but a total of 4 USB charging ports that allow you to charge up to 4 devices simultaneously. Of course as expected each of the 4 USB charging ports has a different power output (5V/0.5A-1.0A-1.3A-2.1A) to match the electrical requirements of different devices (for example 0.5A-1.0A-1.3A can be used for smartphones and generally small devices while the 2.1A port is suitable for tablets). So the only question is exactly just how many of a battery you are really getting and after almost 5 days of use i think we have you covered.

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

EasyAcc may not be a well-known manufacturer but they offer a bundle we rarely see even with products by the well-known ones in the market. What i mean is when you purchase a portable battery pack you also need to get a wide range of power tips so you can actually use it with your devices but strangely enough not many manufacturers provide those tips (some do seperately). Well lucky for us aside a carrying pouch and the user’s manual the PB12000A also comes with 3 USB cables (micro-USB/30pin/USB-Tips) and 4 different power tips (Micro-USB/Mini-USB/Nokia DC 2.0/PSP) in the bundle.

THE PB12000A

easyacc pb12000a 04teasyacc pb12000a 05tPerhaps the only drawback (if you can call it that) of the PB12000A is its size (142mm length, 74mm width, 23mm height) which as you can see is quite larger than both the SandBerg PowerBar and the Antec PowerUP6000 (however that's quite normal since it has a battery twice as large).

Both sides of the device are covered with glossy plastic which unfortunately can be scratched quite easily and attracts dust (a rugged housing would be better).

You can check the current charge state of the battery with the help of 4 small blue LEDs placed on the far right upper side (in order to check the state of the battery and/or to start charging any device you also need to push the button placed right next to the LEDs).

The mini-USB charging port for the battery is placed on the opposite side.

At the top of the unit we find the 4 USB charging ports however to see the exact power output of each port you will need to turn the device over.

Each LED represents a charge of 3000mAh and so although not very accurate these can help you get a pretty good idea about the current charge state of the battery.

CONCLUSION

Testing portable battery packs is not really hard since the entire procedure for most doesn't take more than a couple of days. What happens however when you need to test a portable battery that features a lithium-polymer battery with a capacity twice of what most portable battery packs carry? In this case testing the PB12000A proved to be a real challenge since it has enough juice to recharge a "generic" smartphone almost 7 times and that takes quite a bit of time especially when you have to charge (and then use) the battery pack at least three times until the battery is fully functional (it took a total of 5 days for me to complete all tests) and our findings? For starters let's say what we always do so you can't expect from any battery pack to output exactly the same amount of power as its rated capacity and so the PB12000A can actually output a total of around 8000mAh (no way to be 100% precise) since it was able to recharge my LG Optimus 2X a total of 5 and 1/3 times (has an 1500mAh battery) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 for just over a single time (has an 7000mAh battery). Again be aware that in order for the battery to reach its maximum possible capacity you need to have at least 3 charge cycles on it (for example the first time we charged the PB12000A it hardly managed to recharge my LG Optimus 2X a total of 3 times). Also since the device offers 4 different power outputs you need to be very careful which you choose to charge your device with (tried charging the Optimus 2X with the 2.1A USB port and it got really hot so be sure to use that only with tablets).

Normally a 12000mAh battery pack would cost much but when you're rather new in the market you just need to price your products aggressively and that's exactly what EasyAcc does since as we speak the PB12000A portable battery retails for just USD39.99 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and 35Euros inside the EU (Amazon.co.uk). Clearly we can't comment on the quality and lifespan of the battery cells used by EasyAcc (usually battery packs have a 500 charge cycle) but the PB12000A offers a lot more battery power than most battery packs out there (around 8000mAh) and it allows to simultaneously charge up to 4 electronic devices and these two features alone are more than enough for us to give it our Golden Award.
